On his journey, he will meet interesting characters, fall in love, fight a war and slowly rise up to one of the greatest, most powerful leaders of them all, but you can't runaway forever.

A 'What if Hiccup left' fic. In the arena with the Monstrous Nightmare, instead of telling Toothless to leave, Hiccup jumped into the saddle and flew him away, not to return for five years. When he finally does come back, we see a changed Hiccup, with new and diverse friends and allies, all of whom have accepted his new ways of training, rather than killing, dragons.

Set immediately after the events of Reconciliation, this tale concludes my three-part variation on the original How to Train Your Dragon plot. There are many ideas about what would happen if Hiccup had run away with Toothless. Most are more based on the hearts desires instead of what would have most likely would happen. This is my theory and I'm trying to make it as realistic as possible. There will be Hiccstrid so don't worry. Just not at the very beginning.

Set seven years after the events of The Traitor. Astrid is feeling quietly horrified at the way the village is slowly dissolving into chaos, and the rumours of a brown-haired hero who rides a dragon and roams the lands like a lost soldier do not help.

A variation on the original movie plot. A "what-if" scenario beginning in the "See You Tomorrow" scene, with a more in-depth and intense focus on the feelings of the main characters. Story already planned and mostly written with sequels also on the way.

Hiccup's been away for six months. When he finally comes home, he's... well, maybe Astrid and Ruffnut shouldn't be blamed for their reactions. And they're not the only ones...
