QUOTES "The study of history is the best medicine for a sick mind; for in history you have a record of the infinite variety of human experience plainly set out for all to see; and in that record you can find for yourself and your country examples and warnings: fine things to take as models, base things, rotten through and through, to avoid." -The Roman Historian, Livy What counts is not the size of the dog in the fight-it's the size of the fight in the dog. Dwight D. Eisenhower It is better of no excuse then a bad one. George Washington Courage is being scared to death- but saddling up anyways. John Wayne Spes et Fides My family motto Hope and Faith Here's a little poem my friend found in this book she was reading its a rather odd poem: Death alone from death can save love is death, and so is brave love can fill the deepest grave love loves on beneath the wave George MacDonald And one of my own poems:(DO NOT USE IT FOR YOUR OWN BENEFIT. ASK FIRST.) What is Bravery? People say bravery is courage, like David versus Goliath Or the knight fighting for his cause Or is it the man confessing his love to the one he holds dear. Is Bravery the choice or is Bravery commanded by a Voice? When a man sees conviction he acts on redemption Or when a king wages war, his soldiers have no choice, they must obey and be brave and fight the opposition Where is this Bravery we define? Is it in our head, our hearts? Is it in the long narrow cave we seek the end of following the dim light, until we reach the Valley of Grace When do we draw the line? When our bravery has fatal intension? We must step down to let fate decide Bravery is not all it seems I have seen what Bravery can do to mankind I have seen good men turn brave, but when that Bravery becomes more he becomes the sins of greed Or these men feel invincible and the next day on the front headlines that brave man dead hit by the train down Monument Way Is Bravery merely a fear? fear of hurt, fear of suffering, fear of cowardly action; fear for our friend’s, our family’s, our lives Fear is everything, Happiness is just a fear of sadness, sadness is just a fear that has come true So the question is not what is Bravery? but What is Fear? Serious business: Friend: What is your opinion on life? Like, you know, its roads, paths. That sort of thing Me: My opinion, huh? You sure?... Right then. We have two paths in our lives. One is the easy way around the mountain that only leads to a simple view with no beauty of the world's life and you lead a simple life of no adventure. The Second is the path that leads straight up the mountain. It is a hard treacherous path, but when you reach the top, you see everything of beauty, you breath the freshest air. That is when you know that you can complete any adventure, complete any goal, and conquer hardship. Friend: Which path have you chosen? Me: The Second path I reckon. I like a good challenge. Friend: What if you fall? Me: (shrugs) I'll just climb back up. That's life always falling down, but getting back up. (I hope my friend took my opinion to heart.) |
