Throughout my childhood, video games and comics have sparked my imagination. It wasn't until I discovered my love of writing that I began writing stories of my own. I've had a handful of ideas for epic stories surrounding some of my favorite video game/comic series (Batman, Sonic the Hedgehog and Star Fox, to name a few) for some years. Now I can finally share them with everyone who loves to read a new spin on classic characters. Hope you all enjoy what I have to give! Coming Soon: "Sonic's Choice" During a period of peace in the never ending struggle against Ivo Robotnik, a traveler from a parallel universe comes to Sonic and his friends with grave portents of the future. Sonic will soon be involved in a climatic battle against his oldest foe to determine the freedom of Mobius once and for all. However, at one point Sonic will be faced with an impossible choice: a choice that will bring about the death of a dear friend, with darker times following as a result. Will Sonic have the strength and courage to face the inevitable? And when the time of the choice finally arrives...who will suffer the consequences? This will be my first fanfiction, one that's been churning in my head like a storm about to burst. 'Sonic's Choice' will be the first part of a trilogy, which will span across years in our favorite blue hedgehog's lifetime. The idea for this story came from a question that I've pondered about concerning the continuity of Sonic's world in the video games. From Adventures and onwards, Sonic and his pals were suddenly living in an futuristic alternate world that was somehow more like ours, particularly in that it was mostly populated by humans. I found this to be perplexing, to say the least. And while Sonic X and the Sonic Archie Comics had their ways of explaining how Modern Sonic's world connected with the rest of the continuity, I still felt unsatisfied. For me, the world of Mobius and the world where Modern Sonic now resides have always been two completely different environments. Although some of you might tell me I'm wrong about this theory (I probably am, but no one's perfect :P), I still thought it would be fascinating to explore as a 'what if' concept. So I decided to create a story that would explore how our heroes would eventually end up on our strange little ball of water and go into detail about the fates of all the characters that were excluded from video game canon. Case in point: Sally Acorn and the rest of the Knothole Freedom Fighters. What could have possibly occurred that would leave them forgotten in the dark in the video game canon entirely, only to be found in the Archie Sonic comics? I feel like I've come up with a suitable answer, but the sheer scope of linking these continuities together while letting the wide cast of characters develop in a believable way to well-versed fans will be no small feat. Hopefully the fictional history of the alternate Mobius I've created will bypass any mistakes I might make with the Archie Sonic canon, but still feel free to let me know if something is not right. Well, that's all I've got to say on 'Sonic's Choice'. Keep an eye out for the first chapter sometime soon and join me as I begin my foray into the fanfiction world! -RRX |
