Joy-Anna is a fighter, yet compassionate and protective ghost hunter. She’s stubborn at times, but knows when to listen, especially when it comes down to the opinions of friends and family, to whom she’s very protective. Although ghost hunting isn’t what she wants to do, she feels an obligation to do it.

Joy-Anna was born in New York on January, 22. Her mother, Kendra Weisz, a librarian, comes from an Ashkenazi Jewish family from Poland and Austria, and her maternal grandmother, Maya Caldwell, a registered nurse, was African-American. Joy-Anna is an only child, and was raised solely by her mother. She has no knowledge on who her birth father is.

Weisz was homeschooled until she was thirteen, then she was allowed to attend public school. She had a close relationship with her maternal grandmother, Maya; they spent a lot of time together and Weisz considered Caldwell her best friend. Interested in a career in history from an early age, Joy-Anna often found herself focusing more on the subject while she was homeschooled when compared to her other subjects. Her childhood was a bit out of the ordinary.

As a child, Weisz began realizing she has ghost abilities. She told her mother, and she was briefly told of her half-ghost status. Weisz received no further explanation on how she could be half-ghost. Joy-Anna and Kendra began putting together training sessions for Weisz to gain control over her powers.

The summer before Weisz would start high school, she and Kendra moved to Amity Park. At that point, Joy-Anna had some control over her powers, but she still had a lot to learn.

Weisz has a distinctive facial appearance, with a streak of white hair, patches of white skin pigmentation, and very blue eyes set further apart than most people’s. This is due to a genetic condition known as Waardenburg syndrome. As a human, the rest of her hair that isn’t white is dark brown. She has moderate deafness in her left ear, as well. Joy-Anna has olive skin, a slender build, and she’s the average height for a fourteen year old girl.

As a ghost, Weisz’s hair is all white, her skin pales, and her eyes turn red. Her ghost outfit consists of a shirt-pant combo that shows midriff. Her top is all white and her pants, which are loose fitting, is all black. She has white tennis shoes and black gloves.

She is stubborn at times, but knows when to listen. She takes into consideration the opinions of her friends and family, knowing what they’re saying is for her best interest. She is compassionate and protective of those she cares about. There’s also the fact that Weisz is a teenager, so she has all the likes/dislikes teenagers have. She loves hanging out with friends, going to concerts, having fun, etc.

When she’s fighting ghosts and other bad guys, she’s more serious. She doesn’t have a lot of “one-liners” like Danny or anyone else, her focus is on stopping the bad guy, keeping civilians safe, and not causing any damage.

Joy-Anna possesses a variety of supernatural powers and abilities due to her unique physiology.

1.) Transformation: Joy-Anna can transform between human and ghost at will. This ability manifests as light red rings extending around her waist then sweeping around her body. Once transformed, she can use all her ghost powers. She can switch back to human form at will, and can still access some of her ghost powers, like intangibility and weak ghost rays.

2.) Intangibility: Joy-Anna can turn her body intangible and pass through solid matter. She can turn a portion of her body intangible, as well, and she can also turn other people and objects intangible through physical contact.

3.) Invisibility: Joy-Anna can make her body invisible to both humans and ghosts.

4.) Flight: Gravity doesn’t affect Joy-Anna’s ghost form, so she can fly at considerable speeds and heights, and walk on vertical surfaces. While flying, her legs often become a ghostly tail.

5.) Ecto-Energy Powers

i.) Ghost Ray: Joy-Anna can fire red blasts of ecto-energy from her hands and fingertips. The blasts often explode on contact.

ii.) Ghost Shield: Joy-Anna can generate shields made of solid ecto-energy that can nullify or even reflect attacks from other ghosts.

iii.) Ghost Stinger: Joy-Anna can send ecto-energy as electricity through an electric current, negating an enemies’ electric attack and sending it back to the attacker.

iv.) Power Augmentation: Joy-Anna can use her ecto-energy to increase her physical strength.

v.) Ecto-Energy Constructs: Joy-Anna can create constructs made out of solid echo-energy in a variety of forms.

6.) Overshadowing: Joy-Anna can possess the body and mind of another person, ghost, or animal, allowing her to have complete control over their actions. While overshadowing, Joy-Anna can still use some of her powers.

i.) Exorcism: Joy-Anna can separate a possessed person from a ghost overshadowing them by grabbing them with her hand or using a ghost ray.

ii.) Dream Invasion: Joy-Anna can overshadow a sleeping subject in order to get inside and influence their dreams.

7.) Spectral Body Manipulation: Joy-Anna can bend, twist, split, and otherwise contort her body beyond the limits of normal human physiology.

8.) Superhuman Strength: Gravity doesn’t affect Joy-Anna’s ghost form, so she can lift heavy objects with ease.

9.) Superhuman Durability: While human, Joy-Anna can withstand hits and blows that would cause injury to a normal teenager. In her ghost form, her body is incredibly resistant to damage and she has a high threshold for pain.

10.) Superhuman Stamina: While human, Joy-Anna has the same level of stamina as a normal teenager, but in ghost form, she can exert herself at peak capacity for hours before fatigue sets in.

11.) Superhuman Speed: While in ghost form, Joy-Anna can fly at considerable speeds.

12.) Superhuman Agility: In her ghost form, Joy-Anna’s agility, bodily coordination, and balance are enhanced to levels beyond that of a normal human. She can perform acrobatic feats, swing from things easily, and effectively dodge attacks.

13.) Superhuman Reflexes: In ghost form, Joy-Anna has dramatically enhanced reflexes, being able to dodge attacks with ease.

14.) Healing Factor: Joy-Anna is capable of healing at a much faster rate than that of an ordinary human, likely due to her body’s ecto-biological structure.

15.) Vacuum Resistance: In ghost form, Joy-Anna is resistant to the vacuum of space. It is possible Joy-Anna does not need to breathe at all in ghost form.

16.) Psionics: Joy-Anna has an array of psionic powers which manifest themselves as reddish, glowing energy currents and mist-like shapes from her hands. In actuality, she manipulates molecular polarity, allowing her to alter reality. When using her telepathic and telekinetic abilities in human form, Joy-Anna’s irises will glow a dark red color. Her psionic abilities are reliant on movement and focus, which means her enemies could stop her from using her powers by restricting her movements or disrupting her focus. Joy-Anna’s psionic abilities are magical in nature, as she draws energies from other dimensions.

i.) Psionic Energy Manipulation: Joy-Anna can project energy blasts, waves, and bolts of her own psionic and telekinetic energy, allowing her to hit, push/pull, or blow her targets away, possibly exerting enough force to destroy them. The energy manifests in any shape or form, outlining her telekinetic influence, as the energy is visible in a reddish color. Once her energy hits a target, she uses her telekinesis to inflict further damage. She can also use her psionic energy to manipulate the thoughts and memories of others, akin to telepathy.

ii.) Telekinesis: Joy-Anna has the ability to move, levitate, and otherwise manipulate objects using her psionic energy in a remote manner without the need for her energy to be first projected from her hands. She uses the ability to affect and control molecules and particles, allowing her to fully control matter and energy.

iii.) Psionic Force-Field Generation: Joy-Anna is able to create a highly durable barrier of energy that she can shape and conform as needed. She can use it to grab and take apart enemies, protect others from enemy fire, contain a target or cover and deflect attacks from enemies. Her barriers can be broken with extreme brute force.

iv.) Telepathy: Joy-Anna can read minds, communicate telepathically, and experience the memories and thoughts of others. She can also project her own thoughts and memories onto others. This power can be hypnotic, as she can use it to put others in a trance as she observes their memories. She can use this ability to temporarily merge her consciousness with another person’s.

v.) Mental Manipulation: Joy-Anna can deploy a kind of mental manipulation, often used as an illusory hypnosis, by forcing others to relive moments of their past and placing them in daydream-like visions. When this ability is in use, her psionic energy takes on a mist-like form. This also allows her to control other people’s actions, making them experience a form of sleepwalking and do whatever she wants. She can also manipulate the memory, thoughts, actions, emotions, and senses of others at will, as well as induce sleep, pain, and induce illusions without any difficulty.

vi.) Emotional Manipulation: With her mental powers, she often uses this ability to elicit fear or emotional pain in a person in the form of nightmarish hallucinations. The hallucinations can depict fears, regrets, or general disturbances.

vii.) Danger Intuition: Joy-Anna can sense nearing danger, acute danger, potential immediate danger, or impending danger and sense unwanted or hectic threats to her well-being and evade it. Her intuition usually regards herself but may include her surroundings.

1.) Anti-Ghost Weapons: In ghost form, Joy-Anna is vulnerable to all anti-ghost devices. Some anti-ghost devices, like the Spector Deflector, can affect her in human form.

2.) Blood Blossoms: When in the presence of Blood Blossoms, Joy-Anna is rendered powerless and suffers extreme physical agony.

3.) Ecto-ranium: Joy-Anna is extremely vulnerable to ecto-ranium, as all ghosts are.

4.) Infrared Vision: When invisible, Joy-Anna can still be seen in infrared, as she still gives off heat.

5.) Emotional Stability: Joy-Anna can lose control of her powers if she’s under any kind of emotional distress.

Joy-Anna was born with Waardenburg syndrome, a genetic condition that causes hearing loss and changes in coloration (pigmentation) of the hair, skin, and eyes. While some people with Waardenburg syndrome can have normal hearing, moderate to profound hearing loss can occur in one or both ears. The hearing loss is presented at birth. People with this condition will have very pale blue eyes and distinctive hair coloring (a patch of white hair or hair that grays prematurely). Some people with the condition will have eyes that are widely spaced (type i) while others do not (type ii). Hearing loss occurs more often in those with type ii than those with type i.

In Joy-Anna’s case, she has type i of Waardenburg syndrome. She has the pale blue eyes, a white streak in her hair, moderate hearing loss in her left ear, and widely spaced eyes. While she has bouts of insecurity over her appearance, she’s in the beginning stages of learning how to love herself and accepting her differences.

All of that aside, Joy-Anna was also born half-ghost. She’s not entirely sure how she could be born that way, unless her biological father happened to be a ghost. That’s just speculation since Joy-Anna has no knowledge on her birth father. Her mother has kept all information on him to herself. Needless to say, Joy-Anna’s learned to stop asking about him.

Also, regarding Waardenburg syndrome, all the information on here regarding it came from medical sites. I personally don’t have the condition.
