Talking the talk and walking the walk are very important traits in a personal trainer. For me, having been a very overweight and unfit smoker that sat on his derriere for a job, and now being a competitive powerlifter, lean, strong, happy and eager to share how I changed means I've walked and talked on both sides of the fence.
Digging yourself out of a whole is no mean feat but it doesn't have to be complete torture. There's no prize for he/she who suffers the most to achieve their goal. The achievement itself is what we want, if we can do it with less agony and more enjoyment then why not.
That's why I make sure all of my clients leave my personal training sessions with a smile, a good sweat and a few new jokes to share. Because if you can't have the craic doing it you won't keep doing it.
Long term, consistent progress is much better than short term all or nothing madness. Forget the 8 week or 28 day challenges, because your optimal health is a live long project. It only ends when you're in a box pushing up daisies.
All the Best
