![]() Author has written 3 stories for Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter, and Legend of Zelda. Peach Zelda is now a college student and is writing for the first time since middle school. When she's not busy with schoolwork, she's either playing video games, watching something on youtube, partying, and on rare occasion, writing something not school-related. I also compose music once in a while. She's also a huge Zelda nerd. And not surprisingly pretty good with Princess Zelda on Brawl too ). Writing Tips: 1. Know where your story is going. While character development is important, the plot deserves its fair share of attention too. While it's fun to think up a 20+ chapter saga, it's safer to start smaller and get a good picture of a well-written story before it even goes on paper. Without any clear sense of direction, you'll end up with something loaded with inconsistencies like the behemoth that is Naruto. 2. Be flexible with your style. Know when to embellish your writing and when to cut the fat. Writing for a fanfic is just as challenging but extremely different from writing a school paper. And neither of the two are anything like writing for an application. Even within fanfictions, you need to be able to mix up writing styles since reading the same format for 5+ chapters gets pretty old fast. Spice it up. Add some variety. 3. Break out the thesaurus. Yes, this well take you far as a writer. There are much more descriptive words than sad, joyful, terrible, or even overly used phrases like "blood red." Look them up and use them. You are painting a picture with words. Most good artists don't use cheap, kiddy paints. 3. Enjoy your writing. If you aren't really feeling what you're putting on paper, it'll definitely show in the end product. An artist pours a little of himself into every work he creates. A writer should do the same. The more love you put into your writing, the better it turns out. |
