Author has written 13 stories for Legend of Zelda, and Sword Art Online/ソードアート・オンライン. Hello, my name is James. I'm updating my profile, but I'll leave the old one at the bottom for my own sake. I like to look back and see the progress I've made as a people, writer, etc.. I've been on this website for quite some time now. I started reading fanfiction just before I joined the military, published my first fanfiction a few years later, and here I am six years later still reading and writing. Outside of fanfiction, I read everything I can get my hands on. Fiction, non-fiction, historical fiction, sci-fi, you name it. The two books I'm reading right now are: The Dark Monk by Oliver Potzch (A Hangman's Daughter book) and What If? by Robert Cowley (a compilation of theories about military conquests and how different the world might have been if things had gone differently). When I'm not reading, I am training and competing in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Muay Thai, and Mixed Martial Arts. I fought professionally for a brief time and currently hold a professional record of 1 win and 1 loss. If you can ever decipher my full name, there's a video of me getting knocked out somewhere on youtube. While I enjoy many animes and video games, there are only a few fandoms I enjoy reading. Legend of Zelda is my absolute favorite, but I also enjoy Pokemon, Mount and Blade, Star Wars, Fairytail, Naruto, and Sword Art Online fanfiction. Over the past three years, I've started 12 different stories. Of those 12, I've only managed to finish 3. At one point I finished Tomorrow's Gallows, but I was reluctant to let go of my favorite story so I continued the story in my head. Now I am damned to finish it, regardless of whether it should have ended or not. Tomorrow's Gallows, Impregnable, and Cross Guard Tribulation are my three favorite pieces. If I were to stamp my real name on any story here, it would be one of those three. For the most part, I still intend to finish all of the stories I've started. Discouraged needs to be rewritten and that will take some serious time and dedication, but My Confession for Death is long overdue. Death at Depth is a new project I started on March 17th, 2018. I'm excited about this one and expect to update it regularly over the next few weeks and months. Last thing I want to say here is that I signed up as a Beta Reader, but have since retired the account. I'll still read your story if you PM me and ask nicely, but I can't offer much in way of grammar or mechanics. All I can really tell you is whether I enjoyed the story or not. Maybe that's enough for you, maybe not. Thanks for stopping by. -Target22 I'm new to the writing world but I have been a long time fan of fantasy and fiction. Some of my favorite authors are: George Martin, Tolkein, Dostoyevsky, Tolstoy, Goethe, Milton, Jack London, C. S. Lewis, R. A. Salvatore, Michael Crichton, James Patterson, Stephen King, Kenneth Oppel, and many more. Besides work and school I am an avid, if a little green, martial artist. Right now I train and compete in Judo, BJJ, and MMA. I am a huge fan of the Legend of Zelda series. I have enjoyed every game since the NES Legend of Zelda all the way to Hyrule Warriors. I am also a fan of anime; DeathNote, Trigun, Psycho Pass, Fairy Tail, FMAB, SAO, AoT, and Helsing being a few of my favorites. As far as writing fanfiction goes I have eight Legend of Zelda stories: Discouraged, Discouraged: The Shadow People, Roommate of the Century, Cross Guard Tribulation, My Confession for Death, Tomorrow's Gallows, Impregnable, and A Moblin's Epic. Roommate of the Century is the first short story I have ever completed, and it was a lot of fun. I will likely be writing many more in the future. Discouraged is a project that started my freshman year of high school (some seven years ago) but never made it past the developing phase. My friends and I LOVED Ocarina of Time and decided to have a competition to see who could write the best fanfiction. Not a single one of us made it past the first chapter. So here is my second attempt all these years later. I've grown a lot so my plot and plans for the story have changed but I think all for the best. Just in case anyone is curious this will NOT be a romance story. I get that everyone is "looking for love" and all that but I can only read so many stories about love conquering evil. This will have a realistic amount of romance at most. Discouraged is undergoing a massive edit right now. It was the first story I started on this site and just from being here and receiving a few helpful critiques my writing has improved tremendously (compared to what it was). I want to go back and fix previous chapters before I push any farther ahead. My Confession for Death is difficult to write. Updates will probably only arrive once every month or so. This story is much more twisted than any of my other stories. The writing style is learned from Vladimir Nabokov, author of the commonly tabooed book, Lolita. If your first look at my writing is My Confession for Death, and it upsets you, please check out a cheerier short like Roommate of the Century or my main piece Discouraged. If you DO like it and want more, sorry, none of my other pieces are anything like that Cross Guard Tribulation is my second short story. I get a little over zealous when I write characters. I imagine a mature Link being a brilliant, calculating, cold warrior who is tried and tested. I am not brilliant, calculating, cold or a warrior so the writing comes off as shoddy, even to me sometimes. Also i really like reading combat scenes, so I try to write them but they are hit or miss. Anyway CGT has cold calculating and maybe hit/miss combat scenes. Discouraged: The Shadow People is part of the same universe and story as Discouraged. The reason I split them into two different works is because The Shadow People will be used to further explain my version of Hyrule, its races, magic, religion, etc. all the while working with two fun Original Characters, and young Impa. I will do my best to make it so the stories can stand independently, while still offering extra insight and a better experience to those who read both. Tomorrow's Gallows is my third completed short story. I know my writing still needs WAY more improvement BUT when I look at Roommate of the Century or Discouraged then read Tomorrow's Gallows I can really see the progress I've made as a writer, all thanks to this site and the reviewers and community. Currently this is my favorite piece so if you made it this far into my BIO and you are contemplating reading just one piece, check this one out. Impregnable is an experiment for me really. The fandom and fanfiction world always brings with it a lot of dark dreams, fetishes, and smut. I try not to judge before I understand things so this is my attempt at something in the realm of dark romance. I also don't typically write from a female's perspective so this is all around great practice for me and kind of fun. A Moblin's Epic is my newest addition and I'm really excited about it. I see this story as chance to work on perspective, to analyze what the "bad guys" were thinking and doing throughout Hyrule. While evil may exist, I think most villains (real world and otherwise) are products of circumstances, perspective, survival, and self-satisfaction. Hopefully I can embody that opinion into a story. Last thing I want to say on here is this: I've grown soooo much as a writer thanks to reviews, public and private. Whether its a simple "I liked this chapter/story" or an in depth analysis of how terrible I am at commas, I grow from all of it. SO, I want to return the favor. If you took the time to read this BIO and want a review, private or public, just let me know and I guarantee I will make time to read your work and share my thoughts. I can't guarantee I will have the time to read a 62 chapter epic with 8,000 words a chapter but I will absolutely carve my way through what I can. Thanks! | |||||||
