Hello!

I'm BethandMolson, and I've been writing on the site for just over six months!

I'm 15 years old and live in New Zealand. I go to school with my friends, and their critique helps build my stories (as well as a free spell check!). In turn, I help them with ideas for their stories! I'm currently sitting my Level 1 NCEA, so I can get a lot of homework when I have internals (NCEA is the New Zealand secondary school qualifications - levels 1, 2 and 3).

I read more manga than I watch anime, and of all the things I've ever watched/read, I've always thought that the manga was more interesting. Though who can deny all the amazing colour pictures you get from anime! ;-P

MASSIVE SORRY NOTE

Well, I'm so happy. Exams are done!! So, I've got two months worth of summer holidays to enjoy! So, stories will be coming out a bit faster now. But, don't expect them to go, like, really fast. During this two months, I'm visiting my grandmother, having Christmas with relatives, packing up this house, moving to another city, and also going on an initiation camp with my new school. Oh joy...

Familiar New Repetition
I can't believe it. I've got it all written out, and guess what - I cleaned my room. But I'm the sort of person who can find things easier in a messier enviroment that a tidier - I need to remember where I put it!!

Holding You to Me, Always and Forever
Well, I am unfortunately going to be unable to publish the chapter(s) before Christmas. I am currently staying at my grandparent's house, and have brought the story up no a jump/pen drive. However, I managed to forget that I have Word 2007 on my home computer, and my grandparents only have 2003. Guess how my files are saved? So, sorry about that. There will only be one chapter, and then the Epilogue.

Meeting by Chance
I don't know how long it'll be. Me and sasusaku779 need to correlate on this one, I'm a bit stuck on how to get this chapter started.

My Favourite Manga/Anime:

Naruto
Really enjoy Naruto. It's the one that I wait all week for. One of my friends started my fascination with it, and it just grew. She owns a few of the manga books, around 7-8? We read them together when I go to her house!
Favourite Pairing(s): SasukeSakura, NarutoHinata, InoSai, ShikamaruTemari, InoShikamaru
Overall, I'm pretty open to pairing in Naruto. If it's got an interesting plot, I don't really care. I've read some very interesting stories (particularly about Naruto) that all have different pairings. I'm not so keen on harems, and a stickler on SasuSaku - if Sasuke's gonna be with someone, make it Sakura, and Sakura first with Sasuke, but she also works well with Naruto. Don't really mind yaoi either, my friend got me into it...

Chrono Crusade
Another great manga that another of my friends introduced to me. This probably would have been my favourite manga I've ever read, but it ended after the eighth volume, and didn't continue. I like the storyline to this the best. Such a sad ending to a wonderful story, but it did put me off that we didn't see any conversation between Rosette and Chrono once they were reunited. BUt overall, what an amazing concept, a nun and a demon! So cute! I finally managed to buy the set from Borders, but am still missing the eighth! Argh!

I am a COMPLETE stickler to these pairing, I don't accept ANYTHING else. But that's just me.

Bleach
Interestingly, this is the manga I found on my own. At the time, my friends had their own manga books, and I was feeling left out. So when we went to the bookstore, Mum said she would buy me one, but I couldn't decide which one, and she was telling me to hurry up so I just picked one up! But I reall enjoy it, and own volumes 1 - 12.
This story I've never been very interested in pairings. There are just some stories where pairings just don't matter to me. This is one of them.

My Current Stories

I only ever write stories that are related to the main storyline. NO AUs!! All my stories will heavily refer to the manga in question, so will be full of spoilers. I'm getting my thoughts underway, I have two stories out, a sequel planned for the original, plus two other stories in the making (one for each manga in question)

Holding You to Me, Always and Forever
Guess what - almost done. Three more chapters, and I can guarantee that two will be out before Christmas. On a side not, I will probably write a sequel to this, but it depends how much time I get next year - I'm going to be busy at a new school!

A Kyuubi Guardian
DISCONTINUED. I've lost inspiration, and just can't keep going. It's a second-rate story in my books (I'm a perfectionist), and I don't think that I'm getting anywhere with it. And also I need the end of it for a new story that I'm going to write.

Meeting by Chance
A story I'm co-writing with sasusaku779. I've got the ideas for the next chapter in my head, I just need to get it done!

Familiar New Repetition
This is a Twilight story, set in the idea that Edward left, and Bella was changed by person 'X'. Seventy-five years later, Bella ends up at a high school, and some familiar faces crop up at it's sister-school.

Who Are You Really?
This is the new story I'm writing in place of A Kyuubi Guardian. I was about halfway through the first chapter, then I managed to lose it inside my PC. Ouch. I need to come up with a bit more of the plot before I publish this one.

My Pet Hates

Number One:
I can't stand people making primary school spelling mistakes. Typos are one thing, but outright mistakes are pretty rude. People read stories for fun, and as a hobbie - not to have to slog through error after error after error. I know that I personally always pick up on mistakes, and it's really hard to just 'overlook' them. There are spell-checks for a reason!! If you know that your spelling is horrendous, then make a note at the start to warn people!!

Number Two:
Don't switch from tense to tense, or point of view (POV) to point of view, in the same sentence. It doesn't work!! Start a new sentence, or describe it in the tense/POV that the sentence begins in. It's very difficult to understand when reading. And the unfortunate thing is, that it has an effect on the whole text around it. Humans are drawn to mistakes, it's natural instinct to point out the flaws in others. So the human brain almost ignores the rest of the paragraph, and focuses on the error. It's annoying!!

Number Three:
Make sure the words that you use are appropriate to what you are writing about. I have seen whole chapters that have been really amazing, completely decimated because one word did not fit. The main one I notice is when people are trying to write about a happy or loving scene, and put in a derogatory term (negative, putdown). It ruins the mood of the whole chapter, or scene. Doesn't work, and never will!!

Number Four:
One of the responsibilities a writer has is to ensure that they treat their readers well, and the other way round. A writer should NEVER abandon a story without telling their readers. How hard is it to change the story summary to say 'discontinued' or 'on hiatus'? Or give your story up for adoption. Never abandon your stories without telling your readers. It's the height of rudeness, and just plain insensitive!!

Number Five:
Don't list events. There are very few things that truly annoy me in stories, and this is one. The word 'which' is like a taboo in writing. It makes your story boring, and you don't need it. It makes a story loose effect. Using 'and then' is also just as bad, but slightly more acceptable. This is one of the true things that irk me to no end, and I will never let it go. So don't list events!!

Number Six:
This is a new one, but one I have made comments to so many writers about. Homophones. This is probably the one thing that annoys me the most out of all spelling mistakes. The words "your" and "you're" are not the same thing!! Nor are "their", "there" and "they're". This is an elementary mistake - and one so common I could pull my hair out over it!! Biggest Spelling Mistake Peeve/Pet Hate.

Number Seven:
I suppose that if I have a greatest spelling mistakes peeve/pet hate, I should have a grammatical one as well. This is also very easy. Apostrophies and their uses. In particular, possesive apostropies before or after and "s" at the end of a word. Becasue yes, apostrophies are very possesive!! If someone or something owns something, it should go before the "s" (that girl's shoes). This indicates that there is a girl who owns the shoes. If there are multiple people or things, the apostrophie moves to the outside of the "s" (those girls' shoes). This indicates that there are multiple girls that own the shoes. Don't Forget The Apostrophies!!

My Stance on Pairings

Now, I have had numerous people (most of whom I know in reality) ask me about pairings. See, I'm the sort of person who will read a story becasue of the plot, not because of who's with who. In fact, some of the best stories I have ever read were of pairings that I would have never even thought of supporting.

Also, I have the stance that different people like different pairings. It annoys me to no end when peopl say "this is horrible", or "how can you read that". People are different. Some people like to read het pairings, some enjoy yaoi or yuri. Good for them. They can read whatever, and they can publish whatever.

On note of the above, I can see that in real life with some of my friends. One is a hard-out yaoi fan, can't read enough of it. Another completely detests it, but plays along with the latter becasue she finds some of the things she says oh so very funny. A couple don't really do fanfiction, and thats ok. On note, all of my friends are girls, and the idea of yuri is sort of ... weird for us. But, I wouldn't put down someone else who did. I, personally, agree with the above, and read a majority of straight pairings. But, I would be the first to admit that yaoi does hold a little place in my heart ... or more accurately mind...

See, the person who introduced me to fanfiction owns a laptop, and brings it to school everyday. Now, she was reading quite an interesting story in English - and I read it more for the sake of getting back at my friends (they didn't really like the idea of yaoi at all at first). We were reading it aloud all lunch, and the looks on their faces! Hilarious - I still laugh thinking about it! But, I had begun from half way though, so I got her to give me the name of the story and read it one here. So, the first story I ever read was yaoi. Good for me (I think...)

I couldn't sleep that night - spent the whole night reading that story. Well, fell asleep at midnight, and got up at three am and read from then till half six. I started doing a bit of my own surfing, and started reading stories I had found of my own accord. Two months later, I ahd my own account and started writing stories a couple of weeks later.

So, that turned from a talk about pairings to a talk about how the hell I got into fanfiction. Me an fanfiction are practially inseperable now. Don't know how I'll survive the four days when I go to Gran's... No email... No story updates... No review alerts... I GOTTA GET ME A LAPTOP!!
