Hello all who happen to stumble upon this. I'm not much of a writer but I am an avid reader and I love to lose myself in the stories written by the members of this community. I don't know what my favorite ship is it changes often when I start reading a new ship although lately I've been reading a lot of SS/HG and DM/HG as well as DM/GW. However I have come to realize that I can get behind almost any pairing if it is written well enough, seriously even ones where I thought it would be impossible and laughed at the very idea of the match I ended up loving. That being said I really am not much of a fan of cannon pairings in the fanfiction world, I mean their story is already in the book so what's the fun of that?(unless you're doing something with precannon like maruaders era or post final battle pre-epilogue stuff) cannon pairs are alright for foils and everythign but generally not the main characters of my favorite stories.

...I also have a thing FW/HG and CW/HG. Taking pretty much any of the understated weasleys and putting them in a main role makes me really happy. Especially Charlie and his dragons.

I've also gotten in to a few slash pairings recently mostly HP/DM and SB/RL.

I also really like Blaise as a secondary character, as the friend or whatever. Most commonly in Hermione/Draco fics where Hermione and Blaise are friends.

Anyone who can throw in a good Luna is my friend but the people who make her seem stupid are not. She's odd and believes in strange things but she is a Ravelclaw, and therefore not stupid.

The Twins are great. Fred is the better of the twins and I love him FOREVER.

Humor is great, I love drama and angst but it's so much more effective when it is paired with humor. I also love random humor/crack fics just for the fun of it.

I'm in Paris right now and it's amazing. I just had to get that out there. It's sort of too bad cause on the long plane over here I decided I wanted to write something (gasp) and I'm not going to be able to till I get back to the stated in a few months all I really know it that it's going to be an ensemble thing with rather unusual pairs.

BASHING: I do not like character bashing. But first I must define my opinion of character bashing: character bashing is when an author writes a one dimensional bitch/asshole portrayal of any character (most commonly Ginny and of Ron) simply because the author is too lazy to properly deal with situations. When the character has no reason or explanation for their behavior other than the fact that they are mean spirited people and like to be vindictive or other such rot. With Ginny turning her in to a gold digging hateful jealous bitch just to explain why her and Harry are not together. With the case of Ron he is often a hot head but he is also loyal he isn't an abusive caveman. These characters are more dynamic more multidimensional than that. Even Pansy and Lucius are people with more than one dimension. I understand the need for villains, but villains are best when they have clear(or even twisted) but still present motives. If you can't resolve cannon story lines for your AU fictions by other means then bashing you're just a lazy writer. Even short explanations work but suddenly all the characters hating another one without any real explanation doesn't work for me. Don't confuse it for a need for everyone to be nice and get along but the best bad guys are the ones you love to hate and you have to have a reason or explaination. If there is a(good(and by good I mean well developed)) explanation then it's no longer bashing(in my opinion this whole thing is my opinion you don't have to agree with any of it.) and every thing is great.
