It had been too long since she'd seen him or been able to talk to him. It will always be too long.

She hated him, for making her go back, for making her admit Aaron needed his real mother. For not being able to sort out his issues, for decimating the happy life they had created. Mostly, though, she still loved him. Kate ends up at Jack's apartment.

Kate's fingers ghost around the edges and she tries to imagine it's him she's touching.

I tried to write fluff. Drabble. Set during the 3 years the O6 were off island. Jack realizes just how cold the hospital actually is.

When he spots me, his eyes flashes with annoyance, "Kate, what are you doing out here?" A little "missing" moment between Jack and Kate set at the beginning of "the Greater Good."

Time is irrelevant, here. Since that is true, absolute fact – and Jack has been known to be quite the factual sort of man – it is like he lives out a thousand, a million, an infinite number of lives. All with her. Jack/Kate, after "The End".

He loved this side of her. He loved every side of her, loved the past year and a half they'd spent together building a family, a life, things he had never thought were possible with her before. Jate, an evening during the 3 years off the island.

The before doesn't matter anymore because, as his father said, they were moving on, and he thinks the euphoria that he is constantly feeling is part of how good it is to let go. Jack/Kate, post-"The End".
