![]() Hey look, it's a profile! There's not a lot you need to know about me. I'm college aged and I'm pretty addicted to fanfiction :/ If I could stop, I'm not sure that I would, but it would be nice to know whether or not I'd go crazy without my escape. AUTHOR? I'm definitely a reader and NOT a writer, so this whole "author" and "pen name" business is a lie. I made an account for story alerts and signed reviews. Also, I like the :0 face that appears by my name when you search for me :D MISCELLANEOUS FIC INTERESTS I consciously try to vary my fandom interests because it's more fun that way. I originally started with Inuyasha fanfiction, but I my current interest in it is zilch. I have no favorite fandom, I just go where the wind takes me. I like time travel and alternate universe for some odd reason (as in GOES to an AU, not "omg, look they're in high school!" Not that those are always bad.), as well as well-done crossovers. Sarcastic, omniscient narrators make me smile. I like stories of all length, but I won't even attempt an epic if I don't like the summary, whereas I just might if it's a oneshot. Epics must have character development, and my most-loved oneshots are character sketches of some sort. The theory behind it is that things like plot and action are best left to canon, while character reflection that may be subtle or assumed can be hashed out through fanfiction. Despite that, I have also been an action fic junkie, but I think those days are behind me. Maybe. Update! The Inception fandom now owns my soul. As such, FF.N has been left to the wayside in favor of things like LJ or... well, just inceptionwips on twitter and delicious really C: SLASH/HET RAMBLINGS Ideally, I would be slash/het neutral, but truly, I prefer slash. Dunno why. Put two fics in front of me with the same concepts, except one it het and one is slash, I'll pick the slash any day. If the het is well-written, I will undoubtably enjoy it if I read it, but the initial draw is not there. Seriously, recommendations are welcome. Encouraged even. I feel uncultured. Another thing is that I like het a lot more if the relationship being examined is well established (think the Barret/Tifa of But That Was in Another Country. MY HEART BLEEEEEDS). Whereas I'm fine with slash get-together stuff, het get-togethers are boring to me. Maybe I feel like I hash out the het get-together stuff enough in real life already -_- Who knows. PAIRINGS (CONTINUED?) I have no OTPs ( or OT3s. or OT4s. ...or OT5s), but the name amuses me. As does the concept. I like finding weird pairings that are made believable by good authors (I just like weird situations made believable by good authors (hence the crossover)). OT3 kinda things have been fascinating me recently. The one's where you go, "OMG, they should just all love each other" not, "omg, just share already." Love triangles are iffy. OT3S ON THE OTHER HAND... 8D Update! HAY LOOK AN OTP. Yep. Arthur/Eames. What? JGL and T-Hard are both unbelievably hot. It's difficult to even care HOW it's written. I have no standards anymore. THAT is how I know I have an OTP. It also helps that the Inception fandom is full of wonderful writers who seamlessly meld my lost love for action and obvious love for character exploration so well. PREMEDITATION PLEASE Completed stories are frickin awesome. Works in progress that have not only a direction, but a DESTINATION are also great. Seriously. Planned fics make me all warm and fuzzy inside. I understand that some people wing it, and their stories are great, but I feel more secure when the author knows where they're going. I also love it when I find a story that is complete before the author even starts posting it. Now that's security. BAD HABITS I often get hooked on fandoms that I know little or nothing about. You'd think that a complete lack of knowledge would be a turnoff, but I guess the draw of good authors overcomes that. Also, sometimes it's crossovers that start it. Actually, that's it in most cases. I read fics a lot of times, and they're really good fics, and I like them. And I forget to favorite or alert them. Then, I forget about them until I start looking in my favorites for them. I got fed up with bad fanfiction and upped my standards years ago. Mostly. Pretty much. Sort of. Just a little. Ahh, who am I kidding? I don't review much :/ I feel like I should have something to SAY if I review, and "OMG thank you for updating, you should do it more!" or "this chapter makes me happy!" isn't good enough, and is, in fact, assumed. I occasionally remind myself that this isn't true, but I still can't bring myself to just say that in a review if I don't have something intelligent to say. Or semi-intelligent. You know what I mean. I fall in love with fics that are very obviously never going to be finished :C Or, alternatively, I'm still in love with fics that used to update and have now died, but I keep hoping that I'll get the alert one of these days... FAVORITE FAVORITE FIC OF RIGHT NOW (to be updated whenever I feel like it) (read: my excuse to gush) (i'm thinking maybe my whole favorites list will be on here eventually...) #1: Boys by Casey V. You see it down there. It has a nice summary, vague but enticing, so you know it's gonna be written well. Well lemme tell you THAT SHIT IS AWESOME. It makes me warm and fuzzy on the inside. Love the characters, their development, the 90's nostalgia, and OMG SORA IN A HOCKEY GANG IS FULL OF BRILLIANCE. If you haven't read it, DU EET. It's AU so even if you don't really care about KH, it's still wonderful. If you have read it, read it again for kicks. THEY WILL BE WONDERFUL KICKS OF WONDER. #2: WABAMM! EIR'S TOMORROW, I CHOOSE YOU! Hades' Phoenix/ Jukebox Hound does it again! This fic is everything I've ever wanted out of a FF7 fic. The well-utilized and characterized... characters. The well-realized plot. The time travel. It's everything that I've wanted, but thought that I couldn't have. Thought you couldn't do quality time travel at all, thought either the angst would be too much for a FF7 fic, or it wouldn't be exploring Cloud's character enough, thought the 'hay look, TiMe TrAvEl gaiz!' would eclipse the plot. BUT THINK AGAIN, SELF. Look at the Planet's big, old feelings! Look at Zack's crush-thing and Aeris' free love! And Elena! And the inevitability of some shit happening again! AND THE PROPER AMOUT OF ANGST! WHAT IS THIS? IS THIS EVEN REAL? YES. YES IT IS. |
