Total AU. Set in 1875 during the movement west, Jane is tasked with taking a teacher to the little town of Pecos. She didn't realize what she was getting herself into at the time. "Because all I want to do is actually be able to touch you and I can't because you live on the other side of the damn country." An unexpected conversation with a stranger over an online dating site late one night turns into so much more than anyone anticipated.

Jane won't spend another family vacation with just family, thanks to Dr. Maura Isles. The M.E. finds herself a part of the family's 4th of July festivities while Jane has a chance to see her family in new light. Newly un-jaded and with the aid of Maura, Jane rediscovers how strong her familial ties bind while finding herself and love held deep within, all during a weekend out.
