a faint clap of thunder,

さしくもり,

clouded skies,

あめもふらぬか,

perhaps rain will come.

きみをとどめむ?

if so, will you stay here with me?

なるかみの, すこしとよみて,

ふらずとも,

even if rain comes or not,

わはとどまらむ,

i will stay here,

いもしとどめば。
