You must want to see if I've written anything and posted it here. Well, the answer is both yes and no. I have written, but you will never see anything uploaded here. It's where it can be viewed by people who will give me more than the usual mindless comments shelled out here. You can search for it, but you'll never find it, simply because you don't know what to look for. You see, the name it's under and this name are two different things. I don't believe that one should judge a review's quality simply by amount of fanfic produced by the reviewer, and quality is in many ways a purely subjective item. A story can be highly well written, but simply not appeal to any given person, who will then call it bad. A story can be hideously written, yet concern a highly popular couple or setting, and be thronged to by fans. It's all in your mind, nothing more. If you're looking for me to be nice all the time, quit looking. If I'm nice, I'm not me. Block me from reviewing if you want. All you're missing out on is an informative review that doesn't pull any punches. So your ego doesn't get bruised a little. That won't change anything. I'll still think what I think. And your story will still be what it was. Just because you don't see someone's opinion doesn't change reality. As for who I am... Well, I'm whatever you want to think I am. It won't change reality for me either way. So whatever fulfills your fantasies the most. I'll say it again, since apparently not everyone has gotten it: I don't HAVE to be nice. There is no rule anywhere here that says I have to be nice. In fact, there ARE places where it points out that not EVERY reviewer will praise what you do. That's me. I'm the non-praise reviewer. I'm the one who tells you what you don't want to hear: that your "work" that you spent a whole massive hour on has script format, the characters are faceless emotionless cardboard cutouts, and your song lyrics are totally out of place and you're trying to make them do the work instead of actually writing something. Just because it's fanfiction doesn't mean you get to skip out on using grammar, punctuation, spelling, and characterization. You see, just like YOU have the right to do what you want, I have the right to say I don't like it. By the way, until they put some rules on what language can be used in reviews, I can use whatever language I feel like using, or what I feel the situation calls for. You cannot report someone for expressing their opinion in a review, and yes, there really are bad fanfics out there. This might surprise a lot of you, but it happens. Just because you don't happen to agree doesn't make me wrong. The rules of writing determine what's good writing and what isn't, and the rules of common sense, and both of those really do apply to fanfic. Your methods of determining a good fanfic are not necessarily mine and I don't have to go by yours. Which means I have the common-sense given right to have an opinion that differs from yours. You can think it's good if you want. I don't care. But telling the author not to listen to me because of that also isn't your right. It's their decision to make, and they just might want to be told they need to get better. Because no one is perfect. I may not review something no matter how bad it is. I've seen some that even I won't touch, simply because it nauseates me that badly. So many of you always seem to forget that we're not here to mindlessly praise whatever babble someone put out by smashing vaguely on a keyboard. I have a deep respect and love for the English language and the fandoms I have chosen to read fanfiction in. If you can't type legibly, use reasonable grammar and punctuation, and make a story readable, why should I like it? If I can't even read it without getting a blinding headache, why should I want to say anything about it? If you're bashing characters I love to get two other people together, why should I like it? Just because it's about those two characters? Wrong. Very, very wrong. But of course, in any haystack theirs a needle that sticks out. Out of all the keyboard mashers on this site, there are a dedicated few who TRY. And to those who dedicate themselves to do your best and come out with good work, I congratulate you. To all those who are being whiny little brats thinking that they're so flawless and perfect and nothing they do is wrong... Get over yourselves. You can get better just like everyone else, and I don't care how "big of a name" you think you are. You're not big to me. You're just another writer. Deal with it. |
