Are you here because I reviewed your story? Here’s what you should know:

a) Read my review as if you had handed me a copy of your story and asked me to mark it up for you. I won’t keep saying, “I think you should …,” but take it as implied that my suggestions are just that – my suggestions, for you to either take or leave as you feel they fit your story.

b) People’s opinions vary. I will make every attempt to provide guidance without imposing my personal prejudices. I might not even like the premise of your story. However, if it is well written, there are plenty of readers who will.

c) The only assumption I will make about you is that you are seeking advice. If this is not the case, feel free to disregard my review.

d) I will critique your story for what it is, not for what I think it should be.

e) I may only be submitting a review for one chapter, especially if you have a long story already in progress. If you are interested in further comment, feel free to send me a PM.

f) I will primarily be critiquing your writing, with content critique limited to my opinion regarding characterization (only because these are established characters) and questions of plausibility.

g) I do sometimes make mistakes. Just let me know if you think I've gotten something wrong.

I am not here to break anybody down or make anyone feel or look stupid. I am merely watching for authors who need help to do a better job of telling their stories, but who probably don’t know enough about what is wrong with their writing to be able to fix it.

While I don’t know everything about writing, I do know enough to be able to show you how to do a better job of getting that story out of your head and onto the page. Your stories deserve it, and your readers will appreciate you for it.
