Author has written 9 stories for Calvin & Hobbes, Danny Phantom, Lord of the Flies, Tales of Symphonia, and Goosebumps.
September 21, 2005 - December 16, 2006
Hi everyone. I'm pretty secretive about stuff on the internet, so sorry if I don't say much. My first name is Will, so my long time reviewers now have a name to call me other than Velkan the Impaler. I have short dark hair, blue eyes, and I'm 5'6".
Favorite movie series: James Bond, Star Wars, Spiderman, Harry Potter (I saw the trailer for Casino Royale May 3! Awesome, even though it was in French. Now that November 17 has (finally) rolled around, I've been able to see it (Not worth waiting four years if you ask me, but it was all right). I also saw the Spider-man 3 trailer on June 27! Awesome, even though it wasn't even 30 seconds long. Now I got something to look forward to when May 4, 2007 rolls around!
Favorite video game series: Tales of (gasp! An RPG fan who would rather a series over Final Fantasy!)
Favorite book series: Harry Potter
Favorite Movie: 2004 World Series Film and/or Faith Rewarded (they're pretty much the same movie)
Favorite Video Game: Tales of Symphonia
Favorite Book: Faithful (Such a happy ending, just like the movie)
Favorite TV Shows: Deal or No Deal, Forensic Files, The Price is Right, The Office, My Name is Earl
Pets: Laborador Retriever, about three and two-thirds years old (she's so cute!)
Siblings: One younger brother, one older step-brother
Favorite Sport: Baseball
Favorite Major League team: Red Sox (GO RED SOX!)
All right, then. Now that the personal stuff is out of the way, on to some stuff about the fanfics I've written, which ones I'm currently writing, and what I plan on doing next.
MY FANFIC NEWS
12-21-06
I decided against posting the final chapter of Deathbringers tomorrow and instead decided to finish it up tonight. It's over now, then. Deathbringers is over, as if my career on fanfiction.net. I've had a blast these past couple months writing stories and figuring out what I'm capable of writing, but now it's time to start writing completely original stories again.
I wish Deathbringers could have gone out with more of a bang, but I won't complain. This is Velkan the Impaler signing off. Look for me on fictionpress (hopefully) in the near future.
12-17-06
That's it. As of last night, the final chapter to Deathbringers has been written. Now it's only a matter of just posting the remaining chapters left in the story until it's completed.
Yup, that's all there is left to do...
CURRENT FANFICS
A Summer With Rosalyn Calvin and Hobbes (September 21, 2005 - September 27, 2005)
Calvin is finally on summer vacation, and he can't wait to relax and enjoy himself. But, his babysitter Rosalyn comes over to babysit him while his parents are at a family picnic, and all of Calvin's hopes for a relaxing summer go down the tube. With Hobbes's help, Calvin once again turns Rosayln's job into a living nightmare.
TRIVIA:
- This story took me only about an hour to outline
- I wrote the first chapter to this the day I took a Geometry quiz I got a 17 on
Camp Glaregon Goosebumps (October 16, 2005 - November 19, 2005)
Ross and Mike, my longest running characters to date (first came up with them in September 2001), go on one of their greatest adventures of all time when Ross wins his class a trip to Camp Glaregon. After battling his principal to get his class to go, Ross sees a pair of eyes staring at him from the woods of the camp. Terrified, Ross tries to figure out who...or what, was staring at him. To find out, Ross and Mike discoverer Camp Glaregon's deepest secrets and learn its dark past...
TRIVIA:
- This is the 16th Ross and Mike story I've written, but I consider it to be the best in the series. (hence the reason it's the only one up)
- I wrote this story in the summer of 2004
- A reference to Tales of Symphonia (my favorite video game) is made in this
- I got inspired to make the ending similar to the one in Spider-man 2
- After I wrote this, I considered it to be the best story I ever made
- After I started writing this, I changed my mind about how I wanted it to end
- When I started publishing this on fanfiction.net over a year after I initially finished it, I had forgotten a lot of parts to it and had to start outlining it from scratch while keeping the basic idea the same
- This story took me roughly five days to outline
Split Decisions Danny Phantom (November 20, 2005 - February 9, 2006)
Danny finds himself getting hunted down by four ghosts who seem to want him to help them fight in a war in the Ghost Zone. Not knowing what side is good and what side is bad, Danny struggles to decide what side he should fight for. But the worst part is that he can't even fight at all, because his powers have mysteriously disappeared.
TRIVIA:
- The names "Myrus" and "Cobaark" initially came from a story I made last Summer called Descendant's Curse. Sound familiar?
- Had two fanarts made by Master_of_Procrastination to advertise this story
- This story took me about four days to outline
- The Maldums were originally the Muldums, but after accidentally typing "Maldums" when writing the story, I stuck with it
Descendant's Curse Danny Phantom (February 13, 2006 - May 9, 2006)
Danny and Tucker find a mysterious black bottle on a beach, and when it accidentally gets opened, an ancient curse is unleashed, and seems to have MUCH more power than Danny stands hope against. Danny has to find a way to destroy the cloud, but has no idea how to. He has to find a way to discover the cloud's one weakness before it destroys everything. To do that, he has to discover the cloud's deepest origins and get help from the one person who has the power to overcome it...
TRIVIA:
- The basis to this fanfiction came from a story I wrote Summer 2005 called "Descendant's Curse". The villains' names in it were Myrus and Cobaark. From when I outlined it in Summer to when I outlined the version that appeared on fanfiction.net, several plot elements were changed
- This story took me roughly two weeks to outline
- I started outlining this a few weeks before Split Decisions finished, but by the time the first chapter was posted, I hadn't completely finished it
- Skyler, Nouron and Bhyrun's names weren't officially chosen until their part in the story came up
- Initially, Skyler was going to be the police sergeant's name. But after I thought about it, I liked it as the name for a scientist more
- This was almost put on hiatus after not getting a review for 6 or 7 chapters in a row, then not getting one for about another 5-chapter period
- I myself got annoyed with (SPOILERS! DON'T READ AHEAD IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THIS STORY BUT PLAN TO) Skyler as a villain about half way through his part. I found myself whining while looking at my outline and saying "Ugh, this guy's going to be around for another nine chapters"
- I found out after I wrote this that this story had quite a few resemblances to Final Fantasy X
- I consider this to be a candidate for my greatest story ever
Revelations and Revenge Danny Phantom (April 7, 2006 - June 12, 2006)
Danny transforms after battling a ghost, but his parents catch him doing it. Now they know that he is the Ghost Boy they've been trying to capture, and give up their ghost hunting ways from shame. The same day, a couple shows up who say that they're Ghost Hunters as well, and Danny has more people to keep his secret from. These two events eventually lead Danny to being hunted down by a ghost hunter and another ghost, desperate for revenge.
TRIVIA:
- This is the first time I've used a "write-backwards" method to come up with the plot
- Compton's name was originally going to be Hompton
- Revelations and Revenge took me about a week to outline
- I decided against waiting for Descendant's Curse to end and decided to start writing that and this simultaneously instead
- The scene of the final battle in this story was inspired by a 30 second chase scene in a movie I saw exactly one week before the first chapter of this got posted
Jack's Journal Lord of the Flies (May 18, 2006 - June 12, 2006)
In early February, I had to hand in a journal for the book we were reading in English at the time, which was Lord of the Flies. We were assigned a character who we had to keep a journal for, and I was assigned to keep a journal for Jack. This would just be the journal that I wrote for him that I eventually got a 100 on.
TRIVIA:
- When my teacher was assigning parts, I originally wanted to get the part of Ralph
- All the chapters to this were written and documented a few days before the first chapter was even posted
- At the end, I personally think I got the best character (remember, I said AT the end, not BY the end)
- This "journal" took me about a week to write, and I believe it was finished on Superbowl Sunday
- The reason I think I got a 100 on this was that the week we handed them in was our teacher's last week, so I think she had to rush a little to get the journals back and didn't have the time to read and grade them (but this was the giant paper of the term, so I was more than happy to take a 100 for it!)
- After just the first chapter, I considered this to be more of a success review-wise than my 19-chapter Camp Glaregon
Tales of Tiberia Tales of Symphonia (June 12, 2006 - October 11, 2006 )
ToT takes place a few months after Mithos's defeat. The story starts off with Lloyd and Colette on a boat while trying to find the remaining exspheres, but they get sidetracked and wind up lost at sea. A storm comes and washes their boat upon an island. At first, the island seems normal, but Lloyd and Colette later find that maybe the island has some dark secrets or hidden treasures, and learning about this once again will push Lloyd and his friends into another adventure that holds the fate of the newly reunited worlds in their hands. TRIVIA:
-I wanted to write a ToS fanfiction since I joined the site in September 2005, but it took me over nine months to come up with a good plot and have the first chapter posted
-The story wasn't completely outlined when the first chapter got posted
-I was trying to come up with ideas for this story for over eight months before finding a story idea I wanted and using it as the basic plot to the fanfiction
-At first, I thought the story to this would sound too much like Tales of Legendia at the beginning
-The idea for ToT came to me when I was watching a documentary about a centuries-old mystery on the History channel
-This is the first time when I asked for someone else's advice on what should be put in for the story
-There were several times when I considered not wanting to make a ToS fanfic at all, due to how long it would take and fear that it would be a failure review-wise
-The main reason this story is up at all is because in a review for my last story, Leppers promised he would read it
-ToT is the first story where I've tried to really develop any characters
-Was originally called Tales of Hylandia
-The name of the original villain and world was changed simply for a joke to put at the end
-I came up with the idea for a major plot event (or twist, depending on how you look at it) before February and stuck with it (SPOILER...it was Kratos dying)
-ToT has had more concern, energy and thought put into it than any other story I've written before
-I want this to be considered without a doubt the greatest story I have ever written
-The plot was originally going to focus on mysterious symbols that were appearing over the world. I later considered it boring, repetitive and long and started over from scratch. (not before outlining 22+ chapters of it)
-At the time it was written, this story had more villains in it than any previous story of mine did. (there are four true villains in ToT; the closest a story came to this was my seventeenth Ross and Mike story, which had three)
-Ever since I started trying to outline a story for this fanfiction and writing it, ToS is, ironically, the RPG I've probably played the least. (not including ToS, I've played 13 RPGs since I joined fanfiction.net)
-The final chapter to the story started being written exactly 17 weeks after I started writing the first one.
-This is the longest time it's ever taken me to write a story
-By the time this story was coming to an end, Tales of the Abyss was being released and it was approaching my 20-month milestone since I first played ToS. This (October 11) was also the four month mark of how long it took me to write the story. All this occured at the same time, so I thought it would be appropriate to end the story on that day
Ross and Mike Summary
As you can see below, I'm working on another story in the Ross and Mike series now. But this one has a story that will require a few references to the previous 17 stories in the series in order for everything to make total sense. So, I think it's only fair that just so you know what the heck is going on and to make sure I'm not just posting inside jokes only I would understand, I'm going to be posting a summary of those 17 stories so you can understand what's going on. But there are also a lot of continuity mistakes in the series, and The End of Time would be a great oppurtunity for me to fix them.
The End of Time Goosebumps (September 20, 2006 - October 23, 2006)
In Ross and Mike's latest adventure, the story starts off with Ross waking up and finding he's wearing a mysterious necklace that he wasn't wearing the night before. Later on, he and Mike are standing down by a brook until they head into a cave with mysterious drawings and a white glow. The portal soon proves to be a gateway to the past, and Ross and Mike find they're in a society that idolizes a mysterious being known as the Finis Tempi, a creature with the ability to alter time. Ross and Mike's simple objective to figure out how to get back home to the present soon erupts into much, much more.
TRIVIA:
-The basic parts of the story (i.e., the plot, the villain, plot twists, etc.) were all thought out over a month in advance
-This is the first story where Ross and Mike are depicted as 15-year olds. This is the oldest they've ever been in a story and will probably be the oldest they'll ever get
-The first chapter was posted almost exactly 5 years after the first story in this series was written.
-A main part of this story is to tie up all the continuity mistakes I made in the previous stories
-The main idea for time travelling (therefore, the basic idea for the story) was given to me by a good pen-pal of mine from the Phillipines
-This is the first Ross and Mike story to be written since May 2005
DeathBringers Danny Phantom (November 20, 2006 - December 21, 2006)
Danny finds out to his dismay that Sam and Tucker have been killed. He immediately sets out for revenge on who did it, but his quest for revenge soon spirals into an even bigger adventure. Danny will have to uncover the mystery of the Deathbringers and find out who, or what, they are, what they're planning, and how he can stop them before it's too late.
TRIVIA:
-This story was purposely launched on the one year anniversary of Split Decisions being started
-Was originally supposed to go up on November 9 (I would have been ready to start it then as well, but I decided to wait for the one year anniversary)
-This is the first time I've tried to make the villains have their own personality instead of being scary looking guys with tremendous power
-The basic idea for this story started forming in the middle of September
-I wrote almost one chapter a day and was chapters ahead (Like posting chapter 16 but having the chapter up to 21 written) The reason for doing this is that I wanted to post one chapter a day but still be able to do that if my schedule didn't give me time to write a chapter every single day. The driving force behind this is that I wanted the whole thing to be done by Christmas.
-All the villains in my previous Danny Phantom fanfictions who were ghosts (everyone but Compton and Skyler) make brief appearances in chapter 25. The descriptions I used for them are the exact descriptions (with a few tweaks) used to describe them in the stories they appeared in.
-Got much fewer reviews than I would have hoped for. (But that really doesn't matter to me, considering I'm done with fanfiction now)
-Is my final fanfiction
