![]() I just come here to read stuff. I have many preferences, some of which are: 1. Nothing overly romantic. If you have to have it, then just enough to make the characters a little more interesting. So yes, I'm not a big fan of anything fluffy, lemony, or limey, but I can adapt in some light situations. I guess it should be noted that if it's a choice between straight couples and not-straight couples, I suppose I'm traditional, so straight. I have NOTHING against gays/lesbians or yaoi/yuri. There's nothing wrong with them at all. I just don't read about it. 2. Staying in character. I don't like stories where the characters are OUT OF CHARACTER (ooc). I think it just ruins them. Though there are always exceptions I suppose. 3. Lots of action. I like action...as in FIGHTING with SWORDS or other METAL weapons. A little drama here and there isn't always terrible either. 4. OCs. I don't mind original characters, except when they have nothing to do with the plot or aren't needed. And they should be ORIGINAL and well developed. 5. Correct spelling and grammar. I know I myself am not an ace in this subject, and I usually don't mind a few slip-ups here and there, but when it happens constantly, and I know it, then there's a problem. 6. AUs. I really don't mind alternate universe stories, I think it shows the writer's level of creativity and their ability to adapt the characters to a different environment and different situations. I also believe it can give you some more freedom for the plot and such. 7. Length. I'm picky about length. I normally don't go for oneshots less than 700 words at the least. But again, it all depends on how well written the story is. I don't mind a good story that goes on for eternity, but abrupt endings suck too. 8. Updates. I feel sad when I read a good story that hasn't been updated forever if it's not complete. If it gets updated at an almost fairly consistent rate (weekly, monthly, every two months...) and it's good reading for me, I'll add it to my favorites list. 9. Detail. I like enough detail to give me a good picture and idea of what's happening, I don't need any more, or any less. Some situations require more detail than others. SOME DON'T! 10. Ratings. I read stuff rated at K to T usually. I rarely read M. Call me immature if you like, but I've learned the hard way that most of the time, the stories are rated M for a reason, and not a reason I usually like usually. Okay, that's it. |
