![]() Author has written 2 stories for Twilight. Hi! My name is Mary Todd and I am currently a nineteen year-old college student just writing for the fun of it. Usually my writing style is sarcastic or heart wrenchingly full of emotion (I hope) it really just depends on the character. Either way my imagination is put down into a permanent stance. My stupid, overactive, keeping-me-up-at-night, imagination. That's when you know you have a problem, when it starts to effect your sleep schedule. I honestly work best at night, and ever since I started writing, that's when the majority of creative juice starts to flow; right when my eyeballs are falling out of my head and i can barely sit up straight to type but do it anyway because I love it. I love making my dreams a reality, even if it's just a readable one. For me, well, it just makes me happy that i can get engrossed in my own ideas. So yeah, I love to write. See, I have a huge problem and I don't know what is wrong with me. I love to please people. And not in that skeezy my-life-calling-is-that-of-a-pimp's-slave sort of way, but in a I-like-to-brighten-people's-day-with-my-writing sort of way. It all started when my cousin asked me to write a story where she was the main character and Twilight's Edward (a.k.a Robert Pattinson) was her main love interest. Now being that I am here on this earth to humbly serve those in literary need, I hopped right to it and began to write hoping I would have enough done by Christmas to present it to her as an original and completely self-pleasing gift. And I did. Just like I said, I presented her with the first seven chapters of my book Toy Maintenance, starring none other than the giftee. And she loved it. Enough that she let her sister read it and I had another request for a book in-which she starred. It was all so simple. Now, the story I posted on-line is a little different than what I gave her because I wanted it to appeal to more people. I stretched it out, added more drama, and began to write several chapters in a different character POV; Robert Pattinson's. Of course, I was just being lazy at first when I posted the story on-line. It was mostly a clever ruse so I wouldn't be bothered with those pesky, palm wrecking, hole punchers and stupid glue from binding the next chapters in the book together. And I still get to tell her that basically every chapter is a gift from me so no more store bought birthday presents. (NO, I am NOT cheap. I am creative. :) ) So here is where I reach out to you, my beloved readers. Yes, I know that this might sound strange but amazingly enough people have been doing it through the e-mail option. If you have an idea, story thread, twisted adaptation, or an idea/twist for my current story go ahead and shout it out. I'm open to anything because nothing ever stays the same; I'm always editing and then tearing things apart and repatching them together again, even after it's posted. And who knows? My cousin might get a surprise, there have already been some requests that I twist her story up a bit. (Maybe I already have. ;) ) Here is where I tell you information that you really don't need to know, so feel free to scan, skim, or completely skip these little intrusive (but not too) tid bits about me. Favorite books: Not in any particular order Uglies Trilogy(There are actually four books. I guess Mr. Westerfeld wasn't planning on the fourth. I don't know.) Twilight Saga (Um, duh.) Blue Bloods (Different take on vampires that is just twisted enough to keep you on the edge of your seat and completely enthralled after you've read each and every chapter of each book. I do not lie people. You would be stupid not to read these. They suck you in and keep you in even after you are out, and they toy with your emotions. You cry with the characters, and i respect an author who can make me cry.) House of Night(One of those Mom&Me books. If you don't know what I'm talking about then here it is: Enough holy s-- moments to have you rereading whole chapters at a time and never really getting over the fact a twenty something girl collaborated with her mother to write it (including the walk-in blow-job where you know the heroine's eyeballs are searing.) But still some good stuff.) Peeps & The Last Days(Another clever take on vampirism that is kind of gross (spread like an STD), but is absolutely hysterical. The Last Days is the companion book for Peeps, but in my opinion the first book is the best . . . and the funnier one. I love to laugh, so owning this book in my personal collection was a no brainer when it came to dishing out the dough.) Wicked Lovely, Ink exchange, & Fragile Eternity(I love fantasy books. Anything to do with fairies and supernatural, and in these books the two worlds collide in ways you don't expect. The books aren't necessarily dark vs. light. Sometimes the dark saves the light and sometimes the light is darkness itself. These are the type of books where you feel like you're the characters, and you mourn and rejoice with them.) Redeeming Love(If you've ever felt worthless, lost, hopeless . . . this is the book for you. And even if you have never felt that way (you are a liar) this book will tear you apart adn put you back together again. It is so moving and keeps your attention throughout the whole story.) The Chronicles of Faerie (So far there are three books in this series and I believe she is coming out with another soon. I respect authors who do their research and stay true to the myths and stories. These books have love and adventure woven throughout the pages. Another set of novels I hate to put down.) Mitford Series (These are feel good books. The kind where you just want to curl up with some hot cocoa by the fireplace.) Anne of Green Gables etc. (When I was younger we always used to watch the movies and I loved them. When I got older I read all the books which are worth reading. I consider them classics. Wait, are they? I think maybe they are. Well, I read them five years ago and have made it a tradition to read them at the beginning of every summer. Just for fun.) Mediator(There are six books in this series and the last one's name is Twilight. I don't know why I just thought that was hysterical for some unknown reason . . . Basically the heroine in these novels can see ghosts who she helps fulfill their junk so they can go back to wherever they came from (the next existence) peacefully. And if they don't go peacefully she kicks some serious ghost butt. Oh. Andshefallsinlovewithasexyghost.) Size Twelve Is Not Fat, Size Fourteen Is Not Fat, Big Boned ( I should pretty much say right here that anything Meg Cabot has written would be a SIN not to read.) Lament, Ballad Maggie Stiefvater is one of the authors who I wish I knew about two years ago. Just read them both. Just do it. Favorite authors: Not in any particular order Stephanie Meyer (Respect. Period. Oh, and I love The Host.) Scott Westerfeld (Seriously. I can read anything this guy writes. Anything.) Christopher Moore(I laugh, and laugh, and continue to laugh as I'm writing this just thinking about his books. I recommend his latest Fool, and You Suck. Trying to suppress giggles is hysteria in itself. And he is extremely gifted. Like all the authors I put as my Favs.) Lurlene McDaniel(Her books are worth reading. Most of them are love stories for teens and the everyday angst of teenage life, while a lot of that angst has to do with loss or current situations (like dealing with a terminal disease, his, a friend's, or a family members) mixed with love. They all deal with kids who are facing life threatening diseases, and the stories always managed to touch me. My explanation will never capture the heart of her books, but she was the first author that I told my mom I wanted to own her books, not take them out of the school library, and for me at least, that says a lot.) Melissa Marr (Author of the Wicked Lovely books. She writes in a world of shadows and seduction. 'Nuff said.) Gail Carson Levine(Love, love, love her books. She wrote Ella Enchanted and Fairest, but my favorite book of hers is The Two Princesses of Bamarre. For me at least, it was all about finding courage and over coming your fears. And the two sisters remind me of the relationship I have with one of my cousins. Ms. Levine writes very feel good books, and creative twists on the classic and common fairytales. I like twists.) Francine Rivers (Very creative. One of her books, The Scarlett Thread, is about how two women connect but they were born centuries apart. It's pretty cool. I'd tell you more but i don't want to give it away.) Cornelia Funke(All of her books. The creativity itself is amazing. Who wouldn't want to read anything out of a book? I can think of a few characters (EDWARD) who I would like to read out of a book.(Ha,Ha.) Her descriptions are so good it's like I'm watching a movie. If you like the Inkworld Trilogy or a good single read try, Dragonrider or The Thief Lord. Both excellent books.) Jodi Picoult (This woman is such a good writer. I would be satisfied if I was as half as good as she was. Alas, that will most likely never happen. Moving on . . .) C. S. Lewis (Chronicles of Narnia, Screwtape Letters, The Great Divorce, The Allegory of Love . . . to name a few.) L. M. Montegomery (All her books are great. I love how she describes Prince Edward Island up in Canada. It just makes me sad that we seem to be destroyer such a beautiful world in our times now.) L. J. Smith (VAMPIRES! I love her Nightworld books. Kind of sad they decided to screw with her story line (and the way Elena looks) on The Vampire Diaries show on the CW, but the books are a whopping eighteen years old so I say good for her. Ted Dekker (Just because they are that good. His one book, Obsessed, did such a good job portraying cold evil in the villain that it took me two months to finish. I know, pathetic. i still get chills just thinking about it.) Tracie Peterson (She's written over seventy books. I think that is so cool. She writes both historical fiction (Which I had no idea until I read some of her books that it has nothing to do with like, history. It's just fiction during that time period.) and regular fiction.) Lori Wick (Romance and angst. Love it. The Princess I have read three times and i haven't even had it for a whole year yet, and it is not based in medieval times. It present times. It is so GOOD.) MEG CABOT (Another author where I read everything of hers. Just one of those original authors who can me me laugh and cry without trying too hard. I think i have used all the different ways there are to praise a person with all these other writers above, so you'll just have to take my word for it.) There are more . . . . but I will post in both sets, author and book, another time. The very first instrument I laid my fingers on was the piano. I LOVE the piano and took lessons for several years before I moved and lost my teacher. Now I teach myself. When I was in second grade I started playing the clarinet along with the glorious piano. That lasted for four years before I moved to another state and decided to switch instruments. I picked the violin. My teacher didn't;t want to let my play because she said it is harder for a sixth grader to catch up when most kids had played for three years, but she relented. Fortunately and amazingly enough i seem to have an affinity for the violin and I easily caught up, becoming one of the stronger players in my orchestra and even First Violin, second chair my senior year. I also played in the school sinfonetta as a First Violin. My favorite thing about music, playing it, listening to it, writing it, is the expression behind it all. When I take out my violin and put the bow on the strings, it's as if all my stress melts away. The piano enables me to get rid of my anger and anxiety as I bang away on the keys. My clarinet . . . well okay, my clarinet is dusty but I still remember how to pucker and roll my tongue! Keep it stiff! (I'm sorry, that just sounds so wrong . . .) |
