I am Stephanie. This meanings that I am 24. I am a law student, but will be graduating in May 2008. This means that I will soon be a lawyer. I want to try my hand at writing, but I'm not so sure there will be time for that between school, studying for the bar, and actually you know, having a more-than-full-time-job. This makes me sad. One-shots may be in order. I am from the Los Angeles area. I went to university at UC Berkeley. I then moved to the Midwest for law school. I will be moving to DC for my last semester of law school. And then I will hopefully end up back in (Northern) California. But if not, I will stay in DC for a few years. Yeah, I have trouble staying in one place. It's a blessing and a curse at the same time. Le sigh. Twilight & I are like this (I am crossing my fingers). I recently became obsessed with the new HBO show True Blood. I read the first book in the series it is based on and thought that the plot was fascinating but the writing too juvenile. So I picked up Twilight at a friend's urging. Yes, I went from a too-juvenile adult novel to a young adult novel. I am nonsensical. I sat down and read the entire book only stopping to eat & use the restroom. I then proceeded to devour the other three books in less than a week (school and a bit of traveling got in the way). I am obsessed. I read a few other young adult vampire novels to quench my thirst, but really only liked Evernight. So I have turned to fanfiction. I was a bit embarassed at first because during high school my geeky friends used to write FF based on anime series, but I'm currently proud of my dorkiness. My favorite of the series is Twilight. Then Eclipse. Then New Moon. I only really loved Jacob's portion of Breaking Dawn--it was filled with such emotion and made me cry. Pregnant Bella made me puke. The Twilight movie also made me puke--the script was terrible and RPattz had nothing to work with. They also ruined the meadow scene. Enough of that. Random Thoughts on Twilight FF: 1. Can we please stop raping/abusing Bella? Killing off her parents/getting her heart broke by some third party works just as well in creating the "Broken Bella" that Edward apparently needs to save. I just don't understand the need to do that to one of our favorite characters. 2. Why can't bella be a player? She seems to want it a lot more than Edward does in the books. 3. Bella is quiet, not shy and giggley. 4. Can we also stop with making Jacob abusive? Okay, he practically sexually assaulted her in the series, but I think it was more of a desperate attempt to make her feel what he feels--to show her. He would never actually abuse her. He might not respect her personal space, though. 5. I love snarky E&B. It's cute. |
