![]() I'm just a girl in the world. Ok, sorry, sometimes I randomly quote song lyrics or movie lines. In my late 20s, married, no kids, regular job, and love all things Twilight. When I first got all the books, I read them twice and convinced my husband (yes, he read all 4!), younger sister and some friends (younger and older) to read them too. But since then, I've stuck with fan fiction. My first was the entity known as Wide Awake by AngstGoddess003. Then, while waiting for her updates, I branched out based on some of her recommendations. I've found some new favorites and I've branched out from them on recs too. I follow The Lazy, Yet Discerning Ficster blog and am still finding new favs. At first I was afraid (there went another song lyric - almost), especially since my first venture into the world of ff was with a WIP. I didn't want to get distracted so once I decided to make the leap, I tried to read only completed stories but then I found some that I just couldn't wait for and started reading other WIPs. Now, I love getting the updates in my inbox. It makes me smile every time I see one, even if I have to go back a chapter or 2 to remember what was going on in a particular story since I'm currently reading at least 15 WIPs. I've read all kinds of stories, even a few slash one shots. My preference in general is for humor/snark/wit and romance (read: lemony goodness) and I love a good hurt/comfort story as long as the writing and plot are there - plus I'm a sucker for a happy ending. I have read some pretty angsty things too but it has to be well done and have a purpose. I don't really have a preference for AU, cannon, or AH. If the writing is good, I like it, especially when it makes me think and feel, and especially when it makes me laugh out loud. I don't consider myself a writer and would probably never write fiction. What I do is rant. I have written ad and brochure copy as well as course descriptions for previous jobs. But I prefer to edit rather than write my own stuff. I do love to read and that's what I came here (and went to Twilighted) to do. So if anyone needs a beta, or even just someone to clean up grammar and punctuation, feel free to ask. ;-) And feel free to share recommendations for good (esp. funny) fics or ask me for some. |
