![]() Author has written 1 story for Twilight. On a cold winter's afternoon, the sky cast an ominous grey, wet blanket over the city - a pair of bright yellow heels, contrasted heavily against the dirt covered pavement. The startlingly cold wind whipped her hair over her face - casting a black mask to hide the shame evident in her downcast eyes. The only sounds heard was the eerily whistling wind and the 'click-clacking' of her shoes - as she turned into an alley way leading to a basement. She climbed down the stairs, with a braveness that she didn't feel while resisting the urge to run back to the safe haven of her car. The smell of tobacco and urine evident in the air, she scrunched up her slightly imperfect button nose and descended into the darkness. The room, she noted in dismay, was lighted with cheap neon lights that hurt her eyes. She quickly scurried over to a seat and sat down quietly without meeting anyone's eyes, afraid of recognizing herself in them. Not knowing what to do with her hands, she clasped them tightly together, gently placing them on her lap. She felt- before she saw- cool hands being gently placed over hers. She looked up to see reassuring eyes staring right back at her. Convincing herself that she had the strength in her, she looked up, glancing around the room looking at faces that were going through the exact same problems that she was. Faces of people who could not let things go, who clung reverently. Hands that quickly minimized their browsers - when they hear footsteps- with lightening fast reflexes that could rival any internet-porn addict. Being an outcast among you're own people, whose disapproval seeped through when they found out about it. Seeing them she sat up a little straighter, realizing that she doesn't have to hide it anymore. She could be herself here, with these strangers and so determined she said in a voice that sounded foreign to her own ears. "I am a fanfiction-aholic, I read and I write fanfiction" she finished and when she looked up she saw, for the first time, found approval in the eyes that glanced back at her. Maybe some day she will tell the world about her affliction but for now, it was her secret to keep. |
