Matt Murdock's dad "Battling" Jack Murdock was a pro boxer. One night when Matt was ten, his father wanted Matt to go to his fight which his was told to throw away by his agent to make the other new timer look good. He refused to throw the fight and won it for his son. But, Matt followed his dad backstage. Reporters and news crowded the hall.

This takes in the Amazing Spider-Man universe where Flash Thompson graduates from high school and goes to the army where a turn of events happens, causing him to get the Venom symbiote which finds a mate in Flash and Flash is sent on missions to hunt down Carnage, the mobster, Shocker, and the jewel thief Black Cat during the time off Peter has as Spider-Man as seen in TASM2.
