Stabbing Merle over and over hadn't brought Daryl relief. The destruction he'd wrought on his brother's skull didn't dispel his rage. He felt that he'd only shut down and hardened. His anger at the world opened a new door to darkness and released a loneliness that told him he'd just grown up. No one would call him little brother again. He used to long for that day.
