![]() Why hey there, friend! Have you come to visit me? Aren't you sweet? :D Pleasure to make your acquaintance. Name's CE, and I've nothing but recommendations for many a lovely author and a possibility of a rambling conversation if you're up to it. Uh. I, uh, haven't been around for two years, what? FFNet, you look much prettier than last I saw. Also, I absolutely did not do any of those things I said I was going to two years ago. Whoops. Less than 3, CE. I read Merlin and BBC Sherlock, primarily, any more. I've kind of returned to the HP/KH fandoms as of late, but haven't read much of them in a very long time. Usually, the pairings you can see in my favorites include Axel/Roxas, Harry/Draco, Merlin/Arthur, and Sherlock/John. I do, however, have a few... guilty pleasures. Pairings I have rarely (if ever) seen, and would like to see more of. (Also, I don't think every main character is gay. Just. Yanno. Most of them.) These include, but are not limited to: Blaise/Hermione Roxas/Demyx Fayt/Albel Naminé/Marluxia As for other pairings, I've recently dipped my toes into a bit of Seifer/Hayner, courtesy of the lovely owlpostagain's story, Bullet. Still not quite sure how I feel about the pairing as a whole, but the story? Beautiful. You should go take a peek. Sara's Girl's story, Turn, has also made me think about Blaise/Ginny. She made the pairing work: made the characters believable and gave them dynamics that I don't think many could have. The two are not the main pairing of the story, but they are the one that made me think about the two characters, separately and as a couple. (By the way, the story itself is absolutely phenomenal. It deals with some difficult topics with remarkable aplomb, I do so highly recommend it.) I also enjoy Demyx/Zexion, as a rule. And really, I love it when authors incorporate Xion. She was a character too, dammit! And on that note, I rather loathe character bashing. Especially of the female kind, as is occasionally seen in slash. Now, I understand that these ladies can get in the way of some of our favorite men, but truly, they are not unmitigated monsters. If you can bring a non-cannon pairing together without making their female cannon counterpart into a complete psycho, then that is a beautiful thing. (Case in point - Turn) I generally haven't read much into the Marauder's era of HP, though I do enjoy Lily and Severus's story. I don't think they should have ended up together, but Snape is, quite frankly, one of my favorite characters and he would not be who he is if he did not love Lily. I do, however, read quite a bit of the new generation, thanks largely in part to Cheyrl Dyson's numerous stories containing a bountiful helping of Scorpius/Albus. It's appealing to me because the lads resemble their Fathers, and Rowling oh-so-kindly left their futures open. And, well, I can't help but imagine their relationship would work and all that. In any event, you should read Dyson's fic, Penitence, and Sara Holmes's story, Hello. Both are quite beautiful. Now, as to types of stories? I don't really enjoy non-magical HP fics, but am fond of "our-world" KH AU's. An absolutely perfect example of this is pecan piesquared's work: Moped Romance. I really, really, really like this Axel/Roxas fic and all its authenticity. E 'una storia più bella. She wrote another absolutely gorgeous piece entitled "Die Welt zerschmettert," an AU WWII fic that's a real heart-wrencher. Another perfect KH story pulled straight from the 90's is Casey V.'s story, Boys. That is an amazing piece, right there. Though it does make me miss Kurt Cobain something terrible. Another soft spot of mine is sci-fi KH AU's, like becoamafu's Erased, or Casey's 6,581 Miles to Luma. If you're in to people having superpowers, and the world being torn apart by monsters, go read them. Posthaste. Aaaand, as cheesy as they are, I secretly dig zombie thrillers. 'Cause you know that's how the world is gonna end. Nothing else, loves. Drop a message if you care to chat! |
