About Status:

I love Invader Zim series and Status is just the result between spend hours reading several IZ FF's and my sick fanaticism. At the begining it was supposed to be a ZADR (JV wants for sure kill me just for saying this) but I knew I wasn't good enough to write that as good as I would like (I'm a perfectionist, I can't help it T-T). Actually there is one trace of my initial intentions in first chapter, look:

"Though, it was inoffensive if mixed with other substances, like sweetenings or enzymes."

It was heading to kisses. Though, human saliva is around 98 water, it contains various enzymes. That has been my eternal mystery in ZADRs (or similar): How can an irken kiss a human? That's the only reasonable answer I could find. Or, in the other hand, maybe irken just can't touch contaminated water (I think in the original IZ universe, it rains acid water) but I won't open the subject 'cos it's not even clear in the series.

Most of the story will have long chapters, I feel more comfortable writing that long, do you like it that way or my chapters get boring at some point? (Trying to fix mistakes) I think about them as a TV chapters and when I'm writing them I think: "Mm... maybe I could add this", "I need to change that" or "I should take that out" and so on.

I won't lie to you, chapters will be posted every some time. I take too much time not just writing them but to translate them from Spanish to English (which it's a lot!). I calculate that each chapter will take around three weeks (one to write it, one to translate it and some more days for my b-reader to check it).

Favorite character:

Dib's mom. I know it's wierd if she has only appeared one time but I do like her story (you will know more about her), her personality and her physical look.

As long as I know, Zim wasn't blamed about Miyuki's dead in the series, actually no one knows about his role in her dead until The Trial episode. But in this story I needed him to be found guilty just after the event.

About Irken time I think I'll mix Earth and Irken time measures. We need to remember that an Irken year is around ten Earth years. And in this story, for a pratical use, I'll plan to divide an irken year as an Earth year and add somemore:

About Zim's wound and the natural painkiller, I think irken should have the same biological mechanism as humans (adrenaline makes us forget the pain for a moment 'till we run away from any danger).

Acordding to wikipedia (I think... I don't remember very well) The Massive started been built during Miyuki's reign and for this chapter, Spork is still waiting for it, at least they are about to finish it.

About GIR, I did take literally Purple and Red's word: "He's not stupid, he is advanced" And I'm liking how I'm developing GIR in the story.

I bet everyone has guessed where Project Filler name comes from XP

On hiatus. I'll fix the first two chapter and keep going with the story sometime in the future, I'm so sorry about this ;w;

About Against the Odds (a.k.a. Introduction):

Some may think this introduction contains spoilers, but you can skip it if you want. It's just a message before getting started.

I wrote this fic during a brief (yeah, right, brief) creative fugue that had horridly delayed my first IZ fic (yes, I have not forget it yet). I mentioned just above Project Filler was initially a ZADR story with a drabbled plot line that just didn’t worked for that propose.

As some of you can imagine, this fic will have some similar aspects to PF, I hope you don’t mind though you have to keep in mind PF came first, but the final product is a twisted, more elaborated version from the original idea to be what’s today (and, as you will see, PF and AP are quite different). I wanted to homogenize some characteristics from characters and basic facts (such as irken biology, time differences, oc’s, etc.) so you will find along the story how much they are alike.

Zim’s initial behavior and mentality had a deep change after I read a Lee/Gaara Naruto fanfic called Diplomatic Relations (by the way, even if you aren’t into that fandom, it’s worth read it) where the author made a perfect analyze of Gaara’s mentality and successfully uses his emotional atrophy he had grown up with to create a perfect environment. It made me review, not only how I would write Zim’s lines but the fanfic itself. Either way, this fic wasn’t gonna be all pink and fluff.

As we know, Zim grew in a society every individual knows only about selfishness and irken superiority over every life form (which includes everything except the Empire and The Tallest). So, Zim will find something strange, strong and uncontrollable for Dib and the reason of his confusion isn’t that unknown overwhelming feeling he had barely known thanks to his friendship with Dib and an OC but the fact he can’t label or delimit it in his irken understanding, name it and obtain some kind of control over it, a characteristic behavior of his own nature. It creates a paradox in him, since in his mentality everything that can’t be understood is automatically rejected as inferior or useless but he isn’t capable to do that.

Obviously, this new approach made me see new possibilities and challenges, especially because most of the chapters will be written to understand Zim's behaviour, if I explain Dib's it would not clarify the reasons for why Zim will act as he will, so I have gone this way but motivated!

We can agree that to write a stereotypic romance is quite easy, no wonder there are so many sopa operas out there. But it isn’t what I wanted, dear God! I am last person to write that kind of stuff, so the starting dark tone of the story got worst after reading DR.

Even though, I cannot avoid to blush whenever I write the those scenes I laugh so I try to write them at home to avoid strange stares from my friends (though they already know what I read/see in my free time XP)

I think the final outcome is convincing (I hope, you will say o.o) and I feel proud to have taken the decision to give this ZADR an opportunity. I hope that you like what you are about to read and especially, that don’t hate me for what I will do to Dib and Zim, especially to the latter; but I know you will ;-;

Before we get started, I wish to clarify one thing. The history is written in a way that can be confusing for some. We can say the story (without taking into account the prologue) begins in the last third part. Then, at a some point I will return to the very beginning and later I’ll make another jump towards the end. So, if someone doesn't agree completely with this order for finding it very confusing or just silly, the day I return to the very start, I will write in the principal description of AP "Remembrances" and you may read it in a more linear way.
