The Blake Association has been dismantled, and Jane and Lisbon return from South America as Abbott seeks to build a new team. Cho, Rigsby, and Van Pelt are also recruited, and the former CBI team undertakes their first case with the FBI—the investigation of Lisbon's father's death, once thought to be suicide but now understood to be murder. You could probably call this a tag to Orange Blossom Ice Cream - totally tongue-in-cheek. Wylie and Abbott have a little talk...Warning: contains spoilers for 7x03!

"The fear he'd spoken of on the plane, that had still lingered around the edges as he'd stood and leaned in to kiss her, had vanished. Right now she saw only calm and wonder. And love." The first few hours immediately following Blue Bird.

Jane and Lisbon's first day as a couple. Lots of banter, fun, flirting, and some monkey business too. Last chapter brings rating up to M, but probably closer to T.

She had no idea what he read on her face, which emotions she had let slip, but it was enough. She watched as his smile faltered and his face fell, a flash of comprehension crossing his eyes. "You took your decision." "I did," she confirmed, her voice raspy. "D.C. offered me a job." If Lisbon had told Jane in 6x21... And how their goodbyes could've looked like.

'"Well where's the blackmail material in that?" he asked, finally dragging his gaze to her, all wide-eyed and fake innocence.' Jane, Lisbon, his couch, and eavesdropping.

Set immediately after Blue Bird. Jane and Lisbon are called onto a case with some haunting repercussions for Jane where his vision may be clouded by his past, much to Lisbon's dismay. Meanwhile, their romance develops, but not without some growing pains. T now, but may be M later.

My first FanFiction. I was listening to Foreigner's I Wanna Know What Love Is, and thought of this. Insights into the thoughts and feelings of Jane and Lisbon before and during Blue Bird. 6x22 tag. NOW EDITIED- Hope I didn't miss any other mistakes. I was appalled by my inaccuracy when I re-read this. My apologies for that... :) Enjoy!

'Jane squeezed her fingers. "Anxious to get going?" he murmured. "We're just lucky some idiot didn't sneak on board and disrupt proceedings. I hear the TSA really frowns on that sort of thing."'

They're both broken, and she can still see the cracks when they're held up to the light, but maybe it's the mixing of pieces and the sharing of scars that will make them whole again. They're not running anymore. He loves her. She loves him. And it might not be perfect, but nothing ever is, and it's a very good place to start. During/post 6.22, "Blue Bird".

I'm sorry, this just came out! Related to 6x22. I found the man sitting beside Lisbon faintly hilarious, I don't know why. I don't own anything Mentalist-related, not even the extras. ;)

Lisbon and Jane both turn to diary writing as a way to process their thoughts and feelings post the demise of Red John and the closure of the CBI. Chapters will alternate between their POVs. Rated T for language. Comments and reviews are always welcome.

Spoliers for ep 6x15 - "White as the Driven Snow". Abbott attempts to deal with the aftermath of Jane's plans for rescuing van Pelt. Originally a one shot but re-opened to tell a longer version of the story. Rating changed to T for future subject matter, to be on safe side.

Post Red John: Volker is released from prison pending a new trial and is targeting Lisbon. Cho seeks Jane out to get his help in putting Volker away, he returns to Sacramento to face his sins and the life he threw away. He has to decide if what he once said wasn't enough to save him...maybe actually is. Jisbon

What it all came down to was that they were actually doomed from the start, and they didn't even know it. - An AU backstory of a kind.
