INFORMATION for THE ELITE

Here, The Homelands. Pinterest -- The Elite

The Kingdom of Thera, newly born as an independent kingdom from the world, in the Western Plateau.

The Kingdom of Thera is basically where the US used to be. The Palace is somewhere on the West Coast. They are known for having a very plentiful trade market, especially in architecture and masonry, and lots of iron.

Lady: Noriko Ren Phan (Thedaffodilqueen), a girl of six-foot-two who's joyous aura will brighten your day, but inside she's fighting a turmoil that affects her every day. She is unwanted by her own father and the rest of his family, having been born from her father's drunken one-night mistake. She is dyslexic but tries every day to make the best of it. This Selection is her way of escaping the life she never asked for but got anyways.

The Ivaires Empire, in the First North Winterlands.

Ivaires is known for their scavenging and survival, being in such cold weathers that they can survive in the harshest climate of cold. Also, it's basically Canada, Greenland, Alaska, and all else up there. They are also considered historians, as they dig up history in the ice.

Lady: Victoria Hanlon (ChillyIce), the girl with the bluest stares and the coldest glares. After the loss of her mother, the woman who put Victoria down a path of regimes and requirements (which only occurred because her mother had lost her son, her greatest weapon) Victoria feels an unexpected bout of freedom. Her nightmares derive from everything around her, from the cold on the other side of thin windows to the monotone greys that surround her in clothing and decorations. The Selection is the only way Victoria can find herself again, being afraid to express her love of old-timey RomComs and bubblegum-pop, and perhaps a few pink dresses that don't make her look like the soldier her mother says she was meant to be.

Ness, the Outland Archipelago, in the Central Sea.

Ness is the Polynesian islands. They are mainly known for trade is fruit, sugar, and cacao. Very sweet! Also, very skilled in anything water-related: fishing, sailing, surviving.

Lady: Kaia Taumata (Headless Gummy Bear) is a new adult, a solo-flying daughter of a highborn family. At fifteen, she received her first Ta Moko tattoo, something that holds the sense of cultural pride within the ink. After befriending the Ta Moko artist, Kaia decided to learn the art herself, which her parents strongly wished against. They would rather she be searching for a mate. Entering this Selection was not her doing, but rather the decision of her parents to find her a husband. She tries to convince herself that this is her decision, that her attendance is her doing, but in all reality, she is losing control of her life even far away from home.

Wequlon, the Country of Olds, in the Second North Highlands.

Wequlon is basically Europe, excluding most of Russia. They specialize in food (think Italy, France, Switzerland), fragrance (lots of beautiful blowers are in this area), and fortune (this is where the money is made - the world has a singular currency).

Lady: Sage Blackthorn (Dragon Silvertongue), an eighteen-year-old orphaned farmer who lives on her own by the edge of the forest. She grows and sells her own flowers, has a goat named Bluebell as a best friend (and is okay with that), and makes her living at the local market, selling cheese, milk, and flowers. Sage is a quiet, independent and intelligent girl who attended a boarding school on a full scholarship for a while. AEven though she lost her parents in a house fire as a toddler, an occurrence that left her with a burn scar on her leg, she has since grown from the trauma and made a successful woman of herself.

The Great Sands of Zerzura, in the Second South Desertland.

Zerzura is Africa. They specialize in oil, precious stones, and glass. Very beautiful.

Lady: Ntuthuko Dansa Khule (Abizeau) is a twenty-year-old second-year in the W.A.S.P. (Women Airforce Service Pilot) program in Zerzura, and with her father as the Prime Minister her position is well respected, making her something of a favourite in her family. Ntu knows nothing, aside from succeeding, winning, and her future: a WASP pilot. She's got two years to go, but the Selection stands in her way. Here on her brother's decision, she resents him for it but finds a way to see how this will give her a chance at something other than "work, eat, sleep, work".

Asilyra, the Cloud Peaks of the Eastern Mountainlands.

Asilyra is Asia. They are known mainly for their amazing, futuristic technology and weaponry, but the weaponry is lesser now that the war is over. However, keep Sunrise in mind when I say "lesser".

Lady: Alexia Maia Chen (SophieofWoodsBeyond) doesn't know her real family. At nineteen, she could very well be a few months older or younger, because she was left in a box at the outskirts of her home town, a little town up high in the mountains. To keep her from being killed, Jade Chen picked her up and brought her home, to a settlement deep inside the East Mountains. After nine years of simple schoolwork and a regular schedule, she started to have her ass kicked into action, training with the other recruits for a mission in her far future, something that inspired her to work, that made her eyes glow with ferocity. When she's entered into the Selection, she thinks nothing of it... they always say that your first is never the one that you'll be assigned, that you have to wait until the good ones die out. But she's Selected, the only one out of the bunch, all great recruits, all fantastic at what they do. So Alexia goes forth, but she does not go gentle into this good night.

What if it had been Damon Illéa instead of Spencer? What if Justin had never been born, and Abby had never double-crossed him to be with Porter, and they had never had Clarkson? Maxon Schreave would never exist. Welcome to the Selection of Spencer Illéa. Welcome to the First Selection.

Story

In the original story, Spencer Illéa found out about his father’s plans to become king, and, knowing that he would eventually have to take over for his father, Spencer faked his own death, ran from home, and founded the Northern Rebels. In the wake of this, his brother, Damon, was crowned king, had a Selection for the sake of gaining respect from the country (as each province would be involved), and sent most of the girls home after a short period of time, after which his father, Gregory, chose a wife for him and… that was that.

However, I decided to take a different perspective on this. In my story, Spencer planned to fake his death, but then Damon became severely ill, and ultimately died. When this happened, Spencer decided he would stay and save the country, ruling it better than his father had, instead of leaving it to rot in the hands of Gregory Illéa.

This is the story of the very first Selection, the Selection of Spencer Illéa.

Characters

Gregory Illéa - 52 - Believes he is the ideal King because he has a beautiful family and lots of money, both of which he has worked very hard for. He is ambitious, having used his money towards influence in military and politics. He doesn’t like most traditional Old celebrations, believing they are superfluous. He also does not truly love his family, only having bore them and brought them together for the image in the public eye. He keeps his friends close and his enemies far from him, and he willingly uses his children for political movements.

Bethany Illéa - 32 † - Bethany used to be the most beautiful woman, the wife of the most powerful man in the world. And for a moment, she stayed that way, until her husband became King, more powerful than before, and she decided that death was better than living unwillingly as the Queen, only a pretty face on a magazine at the side of Gregory. After years of putting up with it, she threw herself into the cold river on a trip to the Northern provinces about a year after Gregory was crowned King.

Katherine de Monpezat - 27 - Born Katherine Illéa, she was the eldest child and only daughter of the First King. She was basically sold to the Swendway Royals so that her father could become king of Illéa. Forced into a marriage with the soon-to-be king, Emil de Monpezat, who was much older than she was, Katherine remains in Swendway to this day, with her only true love being her daughter, Antonella de Illéa de Monpezat. She’s a very emotionally stable woman, rightfully reacting with anger and sadness when her father sent her away. Her entire family was not happy about the marriage, mostly because she was forced into it, but also because it would make Gregory the king of Illéa.

Spencer Illéa - 23 - Spencer was the first to figure out his father’s plan to become king, and was the first to approach him about it. His father told him that it was for the betterment of society, to have a structured caste system and a leader to oversee it. Spencer disagreed, knowing that it would only end badly. But he was put through the process with his father anyways. He had once planned to fake his death, to get out and have his brother take over, but he decided to stay when Damon got very ill. He planned to go through with the plan when his brother got better, but when his brother passed away, Spencer was the only remaining option. Spencer, although he believes that his father’s ways are reckless and will endanger many, believes he can change things when his father finally dies. He wants to show his future subjects that he will be a better king than his father before him. He is centred, decisive, and lives with integrity. He believes he is capable of protecting the people from his father’s wrath, making the transition into the Castes go smoother, make things easier, possibly eradicate them when his father perishes. He is creative and enjoys the privileges that he has, finding it difficult to relate to those who have less than he but he has a strong desire to learn about them so that he may help. Above all, he wants to leave a positive legacy, to outshine his father’s. Spencer was devastated when his brother died.

Damon Illéa - 19 † - Damon Illéa was a playboy if anything. He was childish and reckless, the exact opposite of his regal-minded brother. While Spencer had goals and dreams, Damon wanted nothing more than to find a woman (or many) and avoid settling down for as long as possible. As much as he caused trouble for the family, Damon was a beautiful child and a lovely son. If he had died before his mother, she would have died of a heart attack. She loved all of her children equally, but since it was such a struggle to deal with Damon, Bethany had found it rewarding that he was so kind and loving towards her. She believed that she had raised a good son, because Damon did all he could to hide his shenanigans from her, including asking Spencer to let him into the house or the palace late at night after going on a bender. Damon and Spencer were quite close, so when Damon got sick, for a while before his death he would only let Spencer into the room, and they would talk for hours. When he died, only Spencer was present. Gregory only attended the funeral for a short period of time.

Esther Floods - 20 - Esther, born to a very poor husband and wife from Angeles, was born with piling debt already on her record. After her parents borrowed a lot of money from a chef (Ivy Carlisle) that ran a restaurant down the street from their apartment, they were unable to pay it back, having run away and sailed to New Asia without their daughter, leaving her with Ivy. Esther has basically grown up around pompous creeps, living in Angeles and all, and when ivy was recruited to work in the new palace, Esther came with her. The moment she arrived, she and the eldest prince, still young at the time, hit it off immediately. They are quite close, and although spending time together is not really permitted, she tries to see him as much as she can, and vice versa. Esther, though she puts on a facade of emotional control, struggles with her feelings for Prince Spencer, and tries her best to suppress how she feels so as to not be hurt when he chooses a girl in the Selection.

Rules/Things to Know

This is tentative...

1. Be thorough on your character submissions. I will be choosing the main girls, supporting girls, background characters, etc.

2. If you have an issue, tell me. Don't just stop following the story, because that's kind of annoying. If I'm doing something you don't like, tell me and I'll see if I can fix it.

3. You may submit up to three characters but QUALITY over QUANTITY! Please, for goodness sakes, don't write out every personality trait ever. Give me a basic description of your girl, and what sets her apart from everyone else. That is the point of a form, no?

4. Not really a rule but I am going to try to do weekly/biweekly updates to get y'all interested n shit, but that'll be once I have everyone. For now, I'm going to be doing little intro chapters for a few of the girls.

5. I will be choosing around 10 girls to be the main characters. So, if you want your character to stand out, make them a person, not a full story. I want to be able to have characters with potential, not who I already can tell/know what will happen to them. You know?

6. Questions? PM me. I'm always on, you know.

Form

Delete everything inside the parentheses before you send it in.

I have made a change to the form to make it smaller. Again, the more you give me, the more I can work with. Please enter a useful amount of information if you want your character to be considered for the main part. For those who filled out the full form, thank you for your time and energy.

Please be aware that I do not want to read a full book on your character and then have to refer back to it every time I need to write about them. Give me the good stuff, the stuff I can work with. Give me a plot device, not a full story.

Submit like this — [Province, Caste; Name, Age]

Remember! Keep it succinct and to the point. Give me what I need, don't write a book.

Name (Full&Nick):

Age (16-20):

Appearance

FaceClaim (Include any differences from the FsceClaim):

Style Before / During Selection (Basic. Give me a simple description to work with. Any specifics will be my choice.):

Internal

Personality (If you cannot tell me exactly the type of person they are in a paragraph or less, I will not pay much attention to your character. In sum: Who is she? What has made her this way? Who will she become? Who does she want to become?):

Examples of things she would say (or has said & the context (2):

Background/History (Include: family, friends, pets, relationships... the more you give me, the more I will use it. Still - be succinct.):

Opinions on the First Selection:

Reason for entering:

Reaction to being Selected (Including that of their family & friends & anyone relevant):

How would she react to elimination (early on, later, at the very end)?

Does she want to win?:

Opinions on/Treatment of... (Include before Selection & after. Did it change? If they have no opinions on them, and never will, don't put anything down. You may tell me later on - in reviews - how their opinions change. If you choose to omit one of these opinions but I would like you to put one, please be aware that I have the ability to ask you for it.)

Spencer:

Esther:

Damon:

Bethany:

New Caste System:

Extra (For you.)

Why would your character make a good main? What makes her special/what is unique to her/what makes her stand out? What does she offer this story as a spotlight character?:

Why should she win?:
