Everyone likes to imagine Tony will be there when Peter is alone. That he'll swoop in and play dad instantly. He wasn't. Explores Peter's descent into the foster care system and Tony's path to eventually discovering where Spiderman went. A slightly longer Tony takes Peter in story.

What should have been a routine injury sends Peter spiralling. Fast. Can Tony save him? Day after day, Peter is spending at his aunt's house more and more often. Tony wanted to think he's avoiding him. But Why would he even do such a thing? His Dad already knew about him being Spider-Man and Thankfully Peter still texted him when he's going on patrols. Tony still got the worry on him and it got worse when Peter came home with blood rolling down his temple.

… and the one time he just went with it.

Peter sits with a lump in his throat, still wearing a baseball cap the wrong way around just because it made Tony giggle like a little kid when he put it on like that, and wonders how he got here. (Spider-Mania (geddit?) has gripped Midtown School. Rumour has it there's a play on Thursday night, 7:00pm, tickets only 10 a pop...)

Peter Parker was a happy young man. He had wide brown eyes, and a big toothy smile. He made lots of jokes and loved to make people laugh. Every now and again though, the smile would slip, and people would see.

Tony Stark is Peter's theoretical dad.

Anthony Edward Stark is used to heaviness. The pressure of being Howard Stark's son, the weight of billions of lives on his shoulders, the suit of armor encasing every inch of his body. The battery that keeps his heart beating in his chest, pressing into his lungs. Tony Stark has borne heaviness readily all his life, but this time he's not so sure he won't snap.

"Tony, come out of there." Peppers voice was strained and Tony turned away, trying to ignore the tremor in her words. She couldn't get into his lab, he'd made sure of it. No one could get in and he wasn't coming out. Until Peter comes to save him (Set in an AU where Tony changed the timeline of infinity war to save everyone but he's the only one to remember when they lost)

His heart wasn't made of iron. It was made of glass. And it was breaking.
