![]() Author has written 5 stories for Strike Witches, and Misc. Anime/Manga. Roberta Kristine Morgan, the first Bomber Witch. The story behind Roberta is an interesting one, as she is essentially the Strike Witch anthropomorphism of the B-17F "Memphis Belle." Her name is an altered version of the pilot, Robert Knight Morgan, who fought in World War 2 as the pilot of the Memphis Belle. The events that led to Roberta's creation are somewhat of a mystery, even to me. It all started when I got tired of using other people's anime characters for my avatar on various anime sites, and wanted to make my own. I decided to make one based off of Strike Witches, even though my passion is more for bombers than fighters, which make up the bulk of the Strike Witches series. So then I thought, "Well, if nobody has ever tried to make a bomber version of a Strike Witch, I might as well do it myself." The B-17 was my favorite bomber of the Second World War, the Memphis Belle appeared as the most popular B-17F, and I immediately fell in love with the idea. There was still one problem: It wasn't anime. That was when I was introduced to a part-time anime artist within one of my favorite otaku groups, and I requested an anime version of the Memphis Belle pinup. But then, I started making changes, because Roberta, as I know her now, did not have a face in her original pinup, as her head is turned away from the foreground in the picture. The first few changes I made pertained to her face itself, the first one was her eyes. After watching the movie about the Memphis Belle, there was a song during the party scene called "Green Eyes", and after listening to the lyrics I asked the artist to make Roberta's eyes emerald green. I had also recently seen the anime "Kill la Kill", and incorporated Sukoyo Mankanshoku's hairstyle into Roberta's design, and the artist made a few other changes, such as the braided parts which are similar to the braids seen on Saint Glorianna's team from Girls Und Panzer. The artist finished the original artwork, made me a signature and avatar, and the project continues to grow very slowly. I am forever in his debt, for taking my idea and making it a reality. The other characters do not have anime representations, although art for Roberta's sister, Esther Morgan, is currently being undertaken by the same artist. If you would like to see the other bomber witch's in their original character list, or volunteer to help produce anime artwork for them, please visit my Wordpress blog here: Thank you for visiting my profile Best Regards, Roberta_Morgan |
