Author has written 7 stories for Wrestling, Disney, and Chrono Trigger. [ranton]Fake people make me mad. Quite mad. So mad, I could rant! Listen to me: You do not have to fit a fucking mold in order to be 'cool'. You want to be respected, and considered cool or great by other people? Try being your own person. It IS possible to have a mind of your own, you know. You are not goth because you wear black clothes, listen to Marilyn Manson, and ponder the meaning of every speck of dust. You are not punk because you wear ties and dickies and listen to Dashboard Confessional and Avril Lavigne. You are not a metalhead because you headbang and listen to Metallica. You are not anti-establishment because you babble about how much you hate the government and how we'd be better off without it - A stupid concept in itself, because the Government is what's keeping most of us off of the streets and safe. I could go on and on about this kind of thing, but instead, I shall go off on something else that pisses me off: Mary-Sues and arrogant writers. Mary Sues have become ridiculous. In the wrestling fandom, most of them go as follows: Mary Sue has a troubled past/childhood which is not gone over until late in the story. Mary Sue is immaculate in every way. Mary Sue goes to the WWE and gets a 4-year contract. Mary Sue makes a debut and is immediately made #1 Diva, destroying all competitors without batting an eyelash or mussing her pretty hair - She becomes Women's Champ within a week. Mary Sue meets Jeff Hardy (or [insert prettyboy wrestler here]). Jeff Hardy and Mary Sue fall madly in love, go find a hotel and fuck like bunnies. They face several 'obsticals' but eventually live happily ever after. There ARE exceptions to this: But they can't be called Mary Sues. They can, however, be called ORIGINAL CHARACTERS. Because that is what they are. ORIGINAL. And then, there are the arrogant little bitches. You know the ones.. The ones who ramble about how great they write, and how everyone should read their stuff. The ones who piss themselves if they get a bad review. There is NOTHING wrong with being proud of your work; But there IS something wrong with telling people about it at every turn, and not even having the decency to go look at your friend's work, writing it off as inferior. Because believe it or not - You probably aren't that great. Chances are, you're like the rest of us normal folks and need some work. There is always room for improvement, so stop gushing over how great it is and try making it better, so you'll actually have something to be proud of. You want to be original? Good. You want to be different? Good. THEN GO DO IT. Find something you're good at and perfect it. Don't conform yourself to fit a label, just because it's 'cool'. Be your own person. It is possible to have your own opinions, you know. [/rantoff] |
