The mandate of downtown Toronto's Off Centre DJ College is basic: have fun with data and electronics! We strive to discover new ways to teach and creatively express ourselves by taking part in with sound. At OC we emphasize the roots of DJ way of life: vinyl, two turntables, and a mixer. Combined with modern day computer software and studio artistry, the creative choices are unlimited. By focusing on the turntable as an instrument, functionality and creation takes on a entirely diverse form. While the art of DJing and scratching has often been clouded by gimmicks, levels of competition, and commercialism, we bring to the studying surroundings the school of thought that the DJ is a musician actively playing an instrument of individual expression referred to as the turntable.
