Tad Williams/Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn series: Tad Williams' writing really captured my imagination. He paints a very clear picture using words and his characters are so unique in the world of fantasy literature.

H.P. Lovecraft: Before reading his works, I cared little for first-person perspective writing. I always believed that first person writing lacked enough detail to paint a picture in your mind, but Lovecraft's style of first-person writing is powerful. He sucks you in with his characters' thoughts and experiences. He also has a very good way of building up suspense until the very end.
