![]() Author has written 3 stories for StarTrek: Deep Space Nine, Dukes of Hazzard, and StarTrek: The Next Generation. Check out my new forum devoted to all things Dukes called Lulu's Lounge! All fans welcomed. http://www.fanfiction.net/forum/Lulus-Lounge/117927/ Also, I have started a Community for stories focusing on Alexander Rozhenko. If you have one or know of one let me know so that I can include the story. I don't have to necessarily like the story to post it in the community. I'm just trying to help other Alexander fans find his stories. Also, I have found out that there MIGHT be a new show revolving around Worf in the works! YAY!! Now time for my rant portion of my profile. The ill informed grammar police!! I only have a few things that really peeve me off about some who review stories. Some are not aware of proper sentence structure and will call any long sentence a run-on sentence. I myself do tend to use long sentences to convey thoughts yet they are always, to the best of my ability along with computer program that aid in writing, grammatically correct. Not every sentence requires a comma and it just kills me when someone insists that a sentence is missing one simply because it is long. I do appreciate the reviewers themselves though since I do know that they at least read the story and it held their interest enough to make them want to review. I just wish that folks would verify what they are calling out before they put it in print. Read the rules! This seems to be a huge problem here. I don't know why. They're not unreasonable, or challenging. "I see other people breaking the rules too" and "What harm does it do?" are not excuses for not following them. When you sign up for this site and start posting, you agree to follow them. By doing so, you agree to getting reported if you don't. Myself, and many other readers are tired of scrolling through thousands of stories to find quality fics without rule violations. It's annoying, and disrespectful to the site you do not have to pay to use. If you violate the rules, most often I leave my comments as reviews (reviews are noticed more). I like to converse with authors before I report them so they have a chance to fix it before I have to take that step. I won't report you unless I get some indication that you don't intend to fix your violation. This includes an excessive amount of time for fixing it, or a reply of some sort. Just as a heads up, even if you block someone, they can still report you. Apparently this isn't a well known fact... Check your grammar! A few mistakes here and there are excusable. We're human. It just irks me when people make excuses for their poor command of the English language. "I was tired when I wrote this," or "English isn't my first language" are not excuses. Beta Readers can help if you need it. Find one you like, and fix the problem. Naturally, accidental grammar errors are not rule violations. The excuses are just a pet peeve. I don't recall ever reporting someone for unintentional grammar errors. In fact, I make it my own practice to constantly go back an re-read my chapters that are already posted since it can be easy to miss one or two issues in a chapter. But I abhor the fact that so many post and never take a second look at their own work again. The only thing worse is the fact that I actually had one "writer" shout back that she didn't care if her chapter had any grammar issues. How did you find my story? What about other authors who violate the rules? Why haven't they been reported? I'm putting this here because I get this question quite a bit. I don't target authors. I don't have time to bully or troll. I frequent the "Just In" section, so I often run across rule breakers who are not in my usual fandoms. Sometimes I'm tipped off by other authors. It would be a hearty challenge to find all the rule violations on this site, so naturally there will be fanfics that go unreported. If you notice someone is breaking the rules, you can, of course extend a message of warning as well. It gives authors the chance to fix their mistakes before they are deleted by the admins, or reported by someone else. For all other concerns, feel free to PM me. It's much more mature and effective than flaming my stories because you didn't like a review I sent you. If you have an issue with my story, that's fine. Put it in the review. It's immature to flame me simply because I pointed out a problem in your fic. As an addendum for PMing me: If you're going to rant at me in a caps-lock curse filled rage, I suggest taking a deep breath and re-think that action. If you're old enough to be on this site, you should capable of responding to something negative like a mature individual. This is the internet, so no, threats, curse words, and flippant comments about how I spend my free time don't rattle me, so spare me the inbox space. It's already full enough. |
