To Anyone it May Concern:

I'm deadbeat tired and really should be sleeping right now but I have something I really need to get off my chest. Though I try when I can to review stories I read, I rarely venture into the Stories' Review pages. This morning just so happened to be one of those rare instances and what I read there had to be the single most infuriating thing I have ever had the displeasure of reading on this site. I'm sure everyone knows the rules of etiquette here and have come across their fair share of very critical and harsh reviews but what I saw today could be described as nothing but an absolute show of disrespect. And if I was this pissed off as a neutral party, I can only imagine how the author was. It wasn't even the rudeness and condescending attitude that bothered me most (though it irked me a LOT) but rather the way the reviewer went about it. The line between a harshly critical review and blatantly insulting a person can be blurred depending on how carefully a reviewer chooses their words and it seems there are people here who love to take advantage of that. There also seems to be people that feel that because they have certain tastes and preferences that they feel is 'right' or 'correct' that that gives them leverage to flame no matter the quality of the author's work.

After seeing these things, I feel I need to make a few things clear. I know I have my policy of accepting flames and it still stands firmly but note: if you insult anything, let it be my work. I will absolutely NOT tolerate any disrespect of my person whatsoever. If you find my work juvenile and childish, say so, do not talk down to me like I AM a child. If you see mistakes and errors that must be corrected, then be real with me and just say it, don't patronize me. If you don't like the direction I took with a story or find it boring, by all means, say so and may I suggest you move on to something better afterwards. This is a huge site with thousands of stories per fandom, there is sure to be one out there that meets your 'criteria' so don't try to harass me with "honest suggestions" urging me to bend over backwards to meet that criteria. You're wasting your time. Don't do it. Just don't. I'm not some dandelion that can be blown over and appeased with a half hearted apology, take this as you will but I can guarantee that this is more of a warning then a plea.

Of all of these years from the very first reviewer I had to the most current one, I have not shown one of them any form of disrespect, I don't intend to ever do so, and all I ask in return is that I receive the same respect. We're all amateurs here killing time by improving ourselves and having fun with our favorite characters. There is absolutely no reason, no excuse whatsoever to personally attack a author. If you find their work THAT offensive and unreadable... this is the internet, the back button exists for a reason.

That said, I feel fortunate and am very grateful to all the people who have reviewed over the years that have been critical, helpful, supportive, sensible, and respectful. I won't say I've always been the best reviewer, I've overstepped my boundaries on a couple of occasions when I was just starting out but the me as of right now is a strong supporter of the author/reviewer relationship and will not stand for it to be abused by either party.

Again, thank you to all who have made my on and off fanfiction career a pleasant leisure experience as it should be for everyone.
