About Me

Hi, I'm Zanney. It's not my real name, but it's short for the real one. I'm crazy enough to have invented the nickname when I was five. See? I was just BURSTING with creativity, even when I was a little kid. XD

I grew up in California, USA and I've been all over the place within US borders, but have yet to leave it. If I can, the first place I want to visit is Canada. And not just because of Hetalia, believe it or not. Actually, Hetalia's more or less the reason I was able to choose a few destinations for travel. My reason for Canada? Mostly because they speak English in a lot of places and I'm too stupid to learn anything beyond what I already know, plus broken Japanese. Such is the fate of an anime nerd... Another reason is the fact that I have a lot of "international" friends and since the majority are located all over Canada, I'd probably want to visit them. And finally, the scenery. I'm serious. I got a friend who lives in BC who sends me pictures of the more "nature-y" areas to try and tempt me... After Canada, I'll probably visit Europe. I hear it's more fun to go on a tour of a lot of places and not just one. After Europe, if I still feel like it, I'll probably check out Japan and Taiwan. I'm really into Asian culture, and so I'm told those two are the best places for me to visit first.

Aside from my bad case of wanderlust and unsatisfied appetite for travel, I'm into photography, cosplay and karaoke of all things. The best part is that it is possible to combine all four of my favorite hobbies. I'm a regular attendee of Anime Expo and Anime Los Angeles, but I tend to turn up in plenty of other places as well. My convention list is... huge. I lost count, so please don't ask me. I feel like I might become depressed by how much time I waste on anime conventions if I have to go back and calculate it.

Speaking of anime, I suppose this is the part where I list my favorite series and pairings, right? Okeydokey then. Here we go...

I'm obsessed with Hetalia, which is probably WAY more obvious than I'd like it to be. Oh well. ^^;

I'm also a fan of YuGiOh, Persona 4, Pokemon, Heroman, Durarara!!, and Ouran High School Host Club. I don't think I'll write anything from about half of those series, though. I'd love to read some, though. If you have any recommendations or need someone to review a chapter or two, send me a message. ^W^

The easiest way to please me is if Canada is somehow involved. I ship World x Canada, always. Hahaha~ As for my preference, I'll ship anything from Hetalia as long as the fic is well-written and has a nice plot. Smut is also a bonus. As is language-kink. *shot*

I honestly have never read anything that wasn't Satoshi x Kasumi (Ash x Misty) since I have a huuuge problem with Pokemon OCs. I'm really critical of them, since I play the games almost religiously and I've been a PokeTard since the 90s. I play competitive tournament battles and sometimes it tends to effect my ability to perceive fic-universe battles. Also, I need to remind myself that anime =/= game =/= manga almost constantly so that I don't wind up blasting everyone who gives their OC an Umbreon. I hate Eevee and all it's evolved forms because I think they're the Mary Sue of the Pokemon World and I'm slightly weirded out by it NOT being Pikachu. But I digress...

So yeah, I'm a bit strange. I like weird pairings, stfu. XD I'm working on some fics of my own, slowly and steadily. The one I have right now is mostly for my own amusement and also cause I wanna see how many people give a shit about such a weird crack pairing. Hahaha~ I'm also outlining a really big Steampunk AU fic for Hetalia that's probably gonna consume my soul. My reason is mostly cause I'm part of a Hetalia Steampunk cosplay group and I was bored enough to write backstory for all the characters along with my best friend. This is what happens when we get extremely bored, slightly tipsy and I become unsatisfied with another author working with an AU and I can quickly point out various ways in which I could "write that scene better" etc etc... Nothing against the person in question. I'm just picky and the lack of updates plus bland writing style piss me off after a while.
