Certainly, the Avengers never thought a year after the devastation in New York they'd be providing safe harbor for the very man they'd fought so hard to defeat. But with an unknown enemy after Loki for knowledge of a deadly weapon, perhaps the old adage, 'Keep friends close and enemies closer' is simply the wisest course of action. It is a surprise for Tony when Loki appears at his house two years after the battle. Slowly he pieces together what happened to the Asgardian that made him so jaded. Tony/Loki eventually.

When Loki's world falls apart around him, he learns that sometimes you do get a second chance. Or, "Five Times Loki Didn't Save the World (and one time he did.)" Post-Thor, angst, trauma, violence. Tony/Loki. Complete.

After Loki is punished for his crimes, he and Thor are sent back to Midgard to help the Avengers rebuild Manhattan. But when it becomes obvious that Loki is unwell physically as well as mentally, relationships are strained and healed as well as created. Rated T for the occasional language and frequent in-depth descriptions of illness and medical procedures.

Thor hadn't meant to hurt Loki, he just wanted him to get away from the door, but he may have done more damage than either of them realise. Pre-Thor.
