My guess: a scyther came out of the tall grass. The trainers pikachu (whom she didn't believe in storing inside of a poke ball) tried to protect her, only to be brutally stabbed, and slammed on the ground, unmoving. she ran to his unconscious body. The scyther, defending its territory, slashes her open and kills her instantly. Her lifeless body falling on top of her pikachu. Thinking they were both dead, the scyther left, and moments later, the pikachu wakes up realizing two things. He can't seem to move his legs, or feel anything under his arms anymore, and two...the strange creature that fed him, cared for him when he was sick, or hurt...she isn't moving anymore, she isn't responding to his weakened whimpers "pika?...pika pi?"
Suddenly he doesn't care about his legs, he stops trying to move...he wonders why she isn't breathing anymore, why she isn't smiling and stroking his head like she used to after a bad fight. And that's when it hits him, his little heart drops into his stomach, and he begins to cry...his tears slowly float to her body, attempting to heal her mortal wounds and bring her back...but it's all for not. She's gone, and even though his inability to move his leg was concerning, all he wanted to do was stay still, and stay with her. His vision slowly darkens as he sees a young boy pass down a path, wearing a red cap, with another pikachu on his shoulders. Unable to make a sound to call them, he passes into darkness, his trainers lifeless eyes staring at him like a porcelain doll as everything fades away into nothingness.
