Sherlock's torture left a mark not just on his skin but on his mind, and it's beginning to change how he interacts with those around him. As Sherlock's wounds begin to fester, he has to face his worst enemy- his own mind, and his lack of belief in his own worth to those he holds most dear. There had to be more fallout between Kirk and Spock in the wake of Amok Time than we ever saw on screen. After all, one isn't almost strangled to death – or almost strangles someone to death – without repercussions, right?
