Isn't it kind of weird how popular media, songs and contemporary cultures keep on reiterating the troubled character that's just waiting for someone to save him or her.

These troubled people are often burdened with worries such as coming from a dysfunctional family, an abusive relationship, some sort of social disorder or a messed up head. These peoples do things like cut themselves, do drugs or commit suicide just to get attention, so that their 'savior' could finally arrive.

But life ain't no fairy tale. This is reality. People aren't so kind hearted as to befriend the socially awkward loser, or try to help the abused kid. Society brushes of these problems and tries to avoid them. Why, a person lying down on the cold floor crying his or her heart out won't receive any help. Instead, passerby's will avert their eyes and try to look in the other way.

It's not their fault. Everybody's got something on a plate. The real issue, is that people keep waiting for a 'savior', when only they themselves can be the 'savior'. But saving oneself isn't as simple of a task as it sounds. It takes a lot of courage to stand up, but everyone's too scared.

I'm scared.

Pity is one of the lowest forms of attention, but it's the only thing some people will ever have. Anonymous
