Hello all! Aspex here, an 18 year old who believes he can write things that people will enjoy.

I have been 'writing' mostly in roleplay in World of Warcraft, though I have written plenty of stories outside of that setting as well in a multitude of styles and genres. I suppose I'll use this section to talk about what writing means to me, and what a writer should aim to achieve.

Much of this will be tinged by a recent, unpleasant experience: the ending of Mass Effect 3, which has left many people unhappy (to put it VERY mildly). The instinctive reaction was to write what would be considered 'headcanon'; a result that I wanted, a happy ending, to fit my desire for a good ending.

But then kicks in the writer, I suppose. What use is it if people wrote just to spite a game, or a story ending they disliked, however badly done it was? Conversely, what use is writing if the only purpose is to satisfy the author's desires?

Writing is so much more than that. It is an art, just as much as any painting or work of music. And always, always, a piece of writing can be better than how it was originally crafted.

So I, and likely others, would like to write out of spite, or to satisfy ourselves. But how can you add to it? Writing has meaning, purpose. It can be a message for anger - but it can be so much more than that, and that is what makes a piece of writing so great. It can go beyond what it was originally aimed to do, and show that not only can responses be crafted in fury, but also in improvement as well.

That is writing for me. A work that is never perfect, that is improved as time progresses, that never ceases to evolve.
