![]() Author has written 14 stories for Final Fantasy XII, ElfQuest, Final Fantasy VII, Kingdom Hearts, Pokémon, and Final Fantasy X. Current, in progress, stories: Lynette in Pokeworld - Based on my actual save file for Pokemon Black and fictionalized somewhat by using the Original Character that I named my Trainer after. I intend to take her to Orre once the Unova adventure is done because Leo will be very important to her. But we'll see how long I'm able to keep this going. HalfElven: An ElfQuest Story - Yes, I know it's been a while, but this one is still in progress. Guess what? Chapter Twenty is up! Yes, pestering me for a new chapter does work. Thank you, Tsouyu, for the reminder. Pending Audience Response: Final Fantasy VII: A SOLDIER's Sister - Backstory for Reset: Traveler, as well as any Goldeneyes tale that references her time in Midgar, and a walkthrough fanfic in its own right. Second chapter has been posted. Now to deal with Reactor #5. Kings Redux: An ElfQuest Worldpool - A writer's challenge story from the past, but incomplete. Haven't worked on this one in a while and I'm trying to find the inspiration to return to it. I still like the idea and some of how it developed. Reset: A Traveler in a Strange World - Intended to replace A Traveler in a Strange World because new ideas have crept up and I never did like the way the other ended. It was just . . . not right. Okay, at long last Chapters Nine and Ten are up. I'm starting to work with some of the alterations that are being caused by what Zack has done, but things are going to get twitchy if any of my readers are familiar with the previous version. Yes, eventually Cloud is supposed to show up but I haven't the foggiest idea when or how, so suggestions are appreciated. Growing Up - my first Kingdom Hearts tale. Reader response is definitely needed. I make my choices dependent on reader response. I have several options given how things developed in the source material (an RP forum where I play Kairi), so I would like to hear from readers. Moved to Pending due to lack of response and because the source material has . . . faded with time. A Songbird Blown Off Course - another Kingdom Hearts tale. I await responses to it as well. Rescuing an Old Friend - a Final Fantasy story branching off from the beginning of Reset: A Traveler in a Strange World. I am awaiting responses. This story could become as epic as any of the others. More of the story is being set down in the source material (another RP forum) though there are two branches, really. One of them actually involves Sephiroth. The other yet may. Completed stories: Sunspark, a Wolfrider - excellent tale, seems to be complete at the moment. There might be other stories of this branch of Wolfriders, but I need ideas for them first. Forever Dawning - again, largely complete in one sitting. One of my best works, if I do say so myself, which is kind of funny because it predates everything else I have posted. On the Strahl: A What If Scene - one-shot that seemed like it was going to go somewhere further but hasn't. Final Fantasy Meets ElfQuest - awkward in places, but still rather cute, this one has a beginning, a middle, and an end, even if it's not going to fit in any official fanfic timeline, unlike A SOLDIER's Sister and Reset: Traveler. Abandoned stories: A Traveler in a Strange World - I was going to continue revisions and such but the ending pretty well stunk and I couldn't figure out a way to fix it. It is being replaced wholesale by Reset: Traveler. That one looks to be a much better tale. Ivalice Returning: Final Fantasy XII - a sequel for A Traveler in a Strange World, but in light of the revisions taking place in Reset: Traveler, and the fact that this just doesn't seem to want to go anywhere, it is being abandoned until further notice. Coming Soon: I intend to comb the depths of my old fanfiction and see what I can come up with that is worth posting. A lot of it is old, and much might not be worth salvaging. I am Mrs. Maracae Grizzley. I have been telling stories and writing stories and role-playing stories for a very long time. I started at the tender age of six with giving dictation to my mother who sat at an ancient typewriter recording every mis-spoken word. Somewhere between the end of Elementary school and the beginning of High School (specifically the year Batman with Jack Nicholson came out) I discovered Dungeons and Dragons and the world of role-playing. In High School role-playing and writing went hand-in-hand along with a budding interest in fanfiction as we were weaving all sorts of worlds into the games I would play with my friends. It was during this time that I was swallowed whole by the world of ElfQuest, and I have never regretted it. In so many ways, the graphic novel series is more my mother than the one who raised me. I still write fanfiction in that world out of a sense of honor, and a child's desire to emulate. In College the role-playing largely gave way to a stronger fanfiction basis due to a lack of players for more conventional forms. I discovered the White Wolf games and became a founding member of the Company of Tears, a long-running Play by Email role-playing game campaign that lasted close to five years or so (1996 to 2001, I believe) before I lost track of the other players in the chaos of transitioning to a Yahoo email discussion loop when I had a Hotmail email account. I have recently rediscovered the joy of community-created fanfiction such as text-based role-playing and have characters on three sites, one Final Fantasy and two Kingdom Hearts. I can get the addresses if anyone is interested in joining. I discovered computer games sometime just before I lost contact with the Company of Tears, possibly just after. I discovered console games during the PlayStation to PlayStation 2 transition when I acquired a PS from a neighbor who was upgrading to the PS2. Once I found Final Fantasy, there was no going back. I played IX, and then VIII, and it took me several years to be able to play VII. I've played X, and X-2 (and liked it a lot), and XII. I've played I and IV. I have not played Tactics, or the DS sequel to XII, or Dirge of Cerberus, or Crisis Core, and I feel the lack almost every day. I have not played Kingdom Hearts all the way through (any of the three games so far) but I am familiar enough with the world and the story to role-play there on two forums. I have a college degree, Bachelor's in English with a minor in French. I am older than the average fanfiction writer, I think. I know that I am older than almost all of the kids I role-play with these days online. In fact, I know of only one role-player older than me, and she's only older by two years. I have a blog called The Grizzley Den on WordPress where I'm starting to post my original fiction. I adore getting reader response, especially if it is positive, even more so if it is helpful for improving the story. Good reader response is so hard to find these days. I'm old enough to know that the flaws in a story are not flaws in my own soul. I would rather know about the flaws in a story so that I could correct them than remain ignorant out of a misguided attempt to coddle my sensibilities. I am a natural storyteller, more interested in entertaining and finding out what happens next than in imparting some ephemeral "message" that tends to get lost in the lack of entertainment value. This is one reason why I gravitate towards fanfiction. It is so much easier to sit back and simply enjoy a fun "what-if" than to try to puzzle out the symbolic meaning behind a piece of toast. I believe that if my words get in the way of understanding a sentence, then I have failed as a writer. And there are a lot of failed writers out there making a lot of money on stuff I wouldn't read if I were paid to. I am Mrs. Maracae Grizzley. I hope you enjoy my stories. |
