06.28.07 -- Hi all, long time no see. Well, I just wanted to check out this site again and see when my last update was, and apparently it was back in May of '05 ... before I had even graduated highschool. Yes, that means I am a college student now and I have a collegiate workload to go with that new status. While I have often toyed with the idea of returning to these fanfictions, time has yet to allow me that luxury. Besides this, much has changed in the world of anime fanfiction since I began writing in the eighth grade (Aishiteru). For one, the audience is overall much younger and more flippant overall. I come from a generation of diehard fans who would scour the internet and conventions and back alleys of Chinatown for their anime fix. We struggled through unreliable fansubs; snowy, fourth generation VHS tapes; and downright unintelligble Hong Kong subtitles. What do the new anime fans do? Turn on Cartoon Network and listen to bad, Americanized dubs as if they were the anime gospel. How many good animes have been degraded by this unholy process? Too, too many. I am also struggling with the knowledge that writing fanfiction is downright childish. Real authors, after all, write their own stories -- this is what I have been trying to do in college. Despite all these negatives, I come back to the heart of the matter: I like my childish writing. I miss my stories and feel bad that I never completed them. Some of them were actually quite good, and I feel as though I have abandoned my creations, my babies.

Therefore, I resolve to finish some of my better works. Eventually. Encouragement is ... well, encouraged. Thank you.
