The story begins a few days before Phil's birthday when Dan finds a new, very amusing, nickname for his best friend Phil. He also finds that his affections towards Phil are taking on a different direction. Phil struggles with feelings of insecurity but finds one thing that makes him feel better.

Phil came out to his parents the same day he met Dan Howell. He was immediately taken with the brown-eyed, beautiful boy, but there was one problem: they'd probably never see each other again.
