Author has written 10 stories for Scorpion. Scorpion and Quintis are my life... Literally. So...I started writing fan fiction approximately 2 years ago, and I'm not going to tell you what fandom it was for, because that would be humiliating. Plus what I wrote was a bit...eh, how would you put it. TERRIBLE!! Absolutely terrible! And I still look back at early chapters and stories I wrote, and they really do suck. Like pretty bad. Wait, not pretty, more like...REALLY bad. But personally, I feel that all those sucky chapters, sucky words, and sucky grammar. The sucky plot lines, and blocky and cliche sentences, was just a learning experience. It helped me learn how to better myself, and how to become a better writer as a whole. I do still need to go back and edit my stories, so I don't sound like a two year old telling a story, but I'm still proud of my work, because THAT is what I was capable of at THAT point and time of my life. And THAT line of words that I grimace at is what helped me become who I am today. Who knows, maybe my writing still stinks, but I don't care, cause that means a year or so from now, I will look back at these stories and chapters and realize how terrible of a writer I was, because I will be so much better, and my writing will have improved so much. And personally...that's worth it. That's all I need. And that's all you should need to. You're probably doubting yourself, and that's a good thing, because there is no writer in this stinkin' world that was able to write a perfect story with a perfect plot line, and with perfect dialogue, after waking up one morning. There's just no freaking way. The only way they got that good was a lot of time and experience. After several weeks of writing and revising your own work, you will get better and better than when you started. So if you stop now, trust me, you definitely won't get any better. You won't just wake up one day knowing how to write perfectly. It takes practice. And no one ever knows and is good at everything. We all need improvement, and that is the motto I live by everyday. |
