Hello hello! What brings you to my lowly profile? Surely not curiosity about me; I'm not nearly that interesting!

I am a Southern gal in my twenties and am incredibly busy with my second year of teaching band, elementary music, and American history. Thankfully I am no longer a first-year educator, and this teaching lark has gotten easier. Things are still as busy as ever, though, so writing time is pretty much limited to holidays.

When I'm not playing music, listening to music, or reading about music, I read anything I can get my hands on and make Mandalorian armor. (Interested? Go to mandaorianmercs.com and check out some of the amazing work these people do! Don't know what a Mandalorian is? Go to Wookieepedia.com and look it up. Also check out Little Warrior International, the Mercs' charity. They do some really worthwhile stuff and deserve your support!) I also make Doctor Who-themed art that has received surprisingly positive reviews and has paid a few bills. As a writer, I have been very heavily influenced by Jo Rowling, Karen Traviss, Dianne Setterfield, Michael Crichton, Aaron Allston, Madeline L'Engle, and Anne McCaffrey. I have also decided that if I can learn to do characterization half as well as Karen Traviss, I will die a happy woman!

In all of my stories the plot is secondary. Events mean nothing to me unless I know how they affect the people involved, so I spend a great deal of time fleshing out my characters. I love to explore "what makes them tick", and I hope that is reflected in my writing.

In addition to Star Wars and Harry Potter (the only fandoms for which I've written anything), I am nuts about Firefly, The Lord of the Rings, and Doctor Who. Anything involving Sherlock Holmes, Percy Jackson, or Marvel superheroes will also catch my attention, and I am quite unembarrassed to admit that I love the children's cartoons Phineas & Ferb and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. (The fact that I like Phineas and Ferb has not been lost on my students; for some it has made me their favorite teacher, and for others it has reinforced their belief that I am, in fact, insane.)

STORY UPDATES (as of 12/30/12):

The Women Who Won: I am taking the time TODAY to post the next chapter. I am sorry for the insanely long wait, but it really couldn't be helped. Career comes first, you know.

Surfacing: This one is on hiatus for the moment, because I am currently rewriting it. I've had to re-map the entire story to fill in some glaring plot holes and to better flesh out all of the characters, particularly Riya. In order to avoid writing myself into a corner again, I will not be posting any more chapters until the entire thing is finished; when I do, the chapters that are currently here will look very different. Most of the work has been done during my 20-minute waits at the allergy clinic, so don't expect anything any time soon.
