Poll: In "What Works Real Good With Slayers", who do you think Spike should be with? Vote Now! |
![]() Author has written 10 stories for Suite Life series, Power Rangers, Highlander, Rocky Horror, Gilmore Girls, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, and Dexter. (Note: I used to be TV-Junkie-99, but I changed my name) I'm an 18-year-old student. I love science fiction. I like Buffy The Vampire Slayer (and, by extension, Angel), Doctor Who, Firefly, Gilmore Girls, Thunderbirds, Being Human (UK), The Twilight Zone and other stuff. I'm starting to get into Supernatural (just finished S2 on Netflix). Most of the fanfiction I write is AU or 'What-If?'. At the moment, I'm working on "What Works Real Good With Slayers", an AU-rewrite of Buffy that switches the roles of Buffy and Spike. I don't want to promise to do the entire series, at the moment I'm just taking it one episode at a time. A lot of people have asked me if I plan to write more of my Gilmore Girls/Dexter crossover. The thing is, I lost interest in writing it, but I might go back and finish it one day. I do not aim to offend. If something I wrote offended you, please let me know. I think there needs to be more fanfiction where characters get stoned (let me know if you find a good one - that isn't in my favorites). "You listen to me. While I will admit to a certain cynicism, the fact is that I am a nay-sayer and hatchet man in the fight against violence. I pride myself in taking a punch and I'll gladly take another, because I choose to live my life in the company of Gandhi and King. My concerns are global. I reject absolutely revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method is love. I love you, Sheriff Truman." - Albert Rosenfield, Twin Peaks I have been meaning to post the following message for a while, but I keep backing out of it. But I think it's important that I say this. Concerning Spike's gun use in What Works Real Good With Slayers: I am not trying to send a guns-are-cool message. I hate guns and violence in real life, but I don't mind it in fiction, because it doesn't harm real-people. I know that sounds a bit hypocritical, but it's the way I maintain my inner-peace. The main reason I have Spike use guns is to show Spike's recklessness (just like his underage drinking, doing drugs, and stealing), in comparison to Buffy's sensibility. Buffy is more thorough in slayer; when she kills a vampire, she just wants it to be quick and over with. When Spike kills a vampire, he takes his time, makes them suffer, gets a thrill out of their pain. I know that guns don't kill vampires or demons, but it is canon that guns can hurt them. The fact that guns were useful against the zombies in "Dead Man's Faith" was only so I could do a Shaun of the Dead reference. Abandoned ideas from "What Works Real Good With Slayers" Originally, I was going to have Vampire!Spike's mum take Joyce's place in the story, but then I realized I wanted to write more than just the first episode. Originally 'Witch' was going to end with Spike, Giles, and Ethan Rayne heading off to the pub, where Spike would run into Drusilla and then they'd go back to her place... I never planned on Oz becoming Spike's best friend, but I got to the end of 'Witch' and realized that Spike didn't have any friends. So I brought Oz in a little earlier; he seemed the best choice for Spike. Originally in 'Prophecy Guy', Spike was going to build a bomb (with help from Warren), strap it to his chest, and go down to The Master's lair and detonate it. But I figured Spike surviving the bomb wouldn't seem plausible. I toyed around with the idea of making Andrew Wells the second slayer (taking Kendra's place), and I would have had a subplot involving Andrew coming to terms with who he is and Spike being accepting of it, which would have made his death even more tragic. My original idea with Tara was to wait and have her appear in Season 4. Willow would come out to Spike first (knowing that he wouldn't judge her...or that he wouldn't care), and then Willow would introduce him to Tara...then the two of them would recognize each other and start fighting (Spike with his fists, Tara with fireballs) because of an incident in their past that Spike refused to talk about. But the idea of Tara and Spike meeting early on appealed to me too much that I couldn't wait. The original idea for 'Anne' was going to have Spike hiding out in a small southern town, where Tara lived. He'd meet her in a small diner where he was working, and teach her how to rebel against her father. I switched the setting back to LA when I realized it would be too complicated otherwise. Originally in 'Lovers Walk' I was going to reveal that Drusilla (during her time without a soul) had repeatedly come to Willow's house and tortured her, then hypnotized her into not telling anyone, and that would have been Willow's reason for switching Drusilla's clarity-curse with the happiness-curse. But it just seemed excessively cruel to Willow. I had a related idea that one of Drusilla's tortures would be slicing a crucifix-shape into Willow's back (basically, two long scars, one across her shoulders and one down her spine). And Willow would not want to reveal the scar to anyone, and be incredibly ashamed of it (taking precautions to make sure no one saw it, ei never wearing a swimsuit or low-back dress in public), but then in season 4 I'd reveal that Tara had an identical scar (given to her by her father and brother), and that connection between them would be the catalyst to start their relationship. But I abandoned that idea because the thought of Drusilla (canonically a former nun) marking Willow (who is Jewish) with a crucifix just seemed so incredibly wrong once I thought about it. |
