Author has written 2 stories for Mass Effect, and FTL. I write a lot more than I used to! It's probably time to add a bit about myself. 1. Me, and what I do My name is Austin. I love playing video games, and I love writing. The two sort of just starting intersecting. I wrote my first Fanfic piece after I finished playing through Mass Effect 2. I've since written a few other pieces, but my FTL piece is the next thing I've brought to the table seriously. I write as much as life allows me and I try to keep the stories I love alive, both for the sake of my readers, and for the sake of giving the characters I dream up life. I love writing, and I hope my love of writing is well translated into the reader's experience. But here's where I have to ask something of you, the readers. I don't get a lot of feedback on my works. Hardly none, really. But the feedback I get, feeds me. I gorge myself on it, and write furiously whilst under the effects that the nourishing reviews(positive or not, I find both to be helpful) induce. Please, review the works you read! It's the most important thing you can do for me.(unless you want to start sending me money. That would be great too, but let's be real here.) Without feedback, I don't know if the stories I write fall on deaf ears or if you guys are all loving it and waiting eagerly for more! If you want to motivate me to write more, review for me! I write very quickly. I mean, I'll do a 5000 word chapter in one day, edit the next day(what little editing I do) and post before the third day. I can start immediately on the next chapter after that. Maybe the quality of my work suffers for it, but I can't stand to write slowly, and editing bores me to the point of hating the process and ignoring it, sometimes. I find more fulfillment in writing, continuing the story for my characters. What this means for you, the Readers: I can update very frequently, if you guys want. Obviously, life happens and sometimes I won't be able to. But if the reviews pour in and the readers are pleased with the content I'm producing, I'll put on the gas and churn out a lot more stuff! Hell, I'd start writing as a full-time work if I felt you guys would appreciate it. But as it stands right now, I just don't think enough people are benefiting by my writing. Not me, not you guys, not anybody. Don't get me wrong, I like doing this and will do it anyway. But I do it when I feel like it. If you want me to try harder and do more, just talk to me. Review, PM, stalk me on Facebook, I don't care. I just feel like I'm talking to a wall here. TLDR:I need your feedback to keep my spirits up, and to keep the writing going. Do it however you can, but this is how you can support me and keep me going. 2. What I want to do: I've got a lot of ideas bouncing around in my head, about a few different games, and even a few original ideas that I'd love to turn into full-fledged works. Notably, I want to do a piece on Planetside 2, and try to capture the Auraxian Expirience, as well as a piece of my own design, influenced heavily by Science Fiction authors like Laumer, Foster, Drake, Asiimov, Weber, and others. I intend to turn it into an actual book. So am I telling you about a book unwritten? I would love to interact with the community on a far deeper level: Streaming. I don't know if this is even a good idea. Writing is dry, tedious work, for the most part. But my computer and internet have streaming capabilities, and if you guys want to join me on my adventure, from start to finish, on this book, I want to pitch you guys the option. I'm also playing with the idea of streaming this book as a novel written this November for National Novel Writing Month(NaNoWriMo). Holla at me if you want this to happen. I'll listen and if even one of you want to watch me turn a blank Google Docs folder into a novel, please, let me know. TLDR: I have plans. You can join me, if you want. But above all, I'll be writing anyway. Slowly, alone, faster and with you, it doesn't matter. I will plod on. So shoot me a PM, and tell me your ideas! Where do you think I should take my stories? How should I approach my writing? Do you want to beta read for me? Do you want to hear more from me? Do you think I'm a shithead and want me to stop? Just talk to me. |
