Author has written 7 stories for Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Hey there guys, welcome to my profile. To my new readers, hey there, have fun and please don't cry because I've been told I've stamped on people's hearts and apparently did the salsa on it. (I promise I won't dance on your heart if you leave a review) To all my old readers, hello again. I guess I have a lot of explaining to do. See, I started reading fanfiction when I was 14. As an avid book reader, the whole concept of fanfiction.net was just beautiful. The stories are over but what it matters to the people isn't. Fans have just taken us back into the world of stories, be it grammatically incorrect or in choppy fragments of stories. And the most important thing--the story wasn't over. There're so many mortal AUs you can write, so many chances at what comes after the cliffhanger, so many theories and headcannons. It's beautiful. And I always wanted to write. So I did. I got an account, wrote my profile, stressed about it for days and finally wrote a story. It was bad, I admit, but I'd like to think I've grown better at it over the years (have I?) My first review made me squeal, despite being only a one-liner, my first favourite and follow made me jump up and down with excitement. There're so many things to explore, terms to learn, and it drew me in in a way no unit at school could. I loved it. And see, the thing is: school catches up. Writer's block decides to pop in for a visit. And slowly, slowly, I found my stories harder and harder to write. The encouraging reviews stressed me out instead. There were expectations to live up to, despite only being on the Internet. I needed my stories to be perfect. I didn't sign up to fanfiction.net to be stressed out. I signed up so I could write, so I knew what other's thought of my work, so I could be acknowledged for once. And thus my writing drew to a close. Only something I saw on the Internet spurred me into action again. "It's okay to be bad sometimes." I think I cried when I saw it. It's okay to be bad sometimes. You don't always have to strive for perfection. And our society, one that always steered me towards good grades, a job, a future, no mistakes, no failure--led me to forget this. I don't know if I'll come back to fanfiction.net. That's the truth of it. I don't know if I'll come back. And maybe you'll feel like this is time wasted reading a profile but I want to thank you for reading this. I might come back. I might not. But in the end, I remembered my true purpose for writing fanfiction. It wasn't to be good, popular, get more reviews and likes. It was to write. Because don't forget, it's okay to be bad sometimes. |
