Hi there!

I've been in a lot of communities over my lifetime. Sports communities, film nerdisms, and videogame addictions have all been a staple of my life. But in the summer of 06 I discovered the community of fan fiction, especially the magical (pun intended) one of Harry Potter. I've dwindled here for the past 4 years, but it wasn't until recently that I began to ponder myself as a writer. Film in general has always been my preferred method of story telling, but why not attempt something new? I've never bothered to try using words as a method of presentation.

Part of why I'm here is the lack of good fan-fiction out there. Excuse my critical bone here, but far too many of Harry Potter fan-fiction is downright bad. Bad characterization, bad story arc planning, and in some cases, horrible use of simple spelling and grammar. Do I pretend to be a master of all these? No, I'm just as amateurish as any other. But this lack of professionalism encouraged me to gie fan-fiction writing a try. Another reason is the simple lack of fan-fiction appearing. Due to the end of the Harry Potter books, there has been considerable less fan fiction sprouting over the webpages. It is still the biggest community for fan-fiction, but besides the occasional surge after a movie release, the large world of Harry Potter has become considerably smaller.

But the biggest reason why I have decided to give this a try is the work that has came before me. I've just had so much fun reading the works of authors who obviously had considerable hidden talent. These are people who will one day write works of their own. I've taken advantage of reading their stories for free. Giving fan-fiction writing the old college try is my way of giving back to the people who have inspired me.
