It had been the right decision to refuse Harry a second date; office romances were always doomed. But when a mission on foreign soil pushes Ruth to her limits, lines drawn in the sand become hard to maintain.

As Connie plots one final 'Hurrah' she has no reason to kill Ben. Harry is a far bigger prize and he's the one with the memory.

Set in 9.7 as Ruth leaves the hospital. She knows so much from the way Harry looks at her. All the ways he looks at her.

Once again Ruth decides to sacrifice everything to keep Harry safe. Will they ever be able to find a way to be together or is this one rift too many?

Leaving is never easy but walking away from a life of secrets is even harder. Ruth was certain that Harry would leave the Service with her, but the road is rocky and littered with wounds. In the pull for a new life, one of them will have to give in. It all belongs to Kudos and the BBC.

Harry Pearce has alway lived by his own set of commandments. At least that was the case until a certain analyst stumbled into his section. It was never supposed to happen, but somehow events moved beyond his control, and now Harry is left to contemplate how he has managed to break every single rule he has ever set down.

It's Christmas, Harry is on suspension, so what's a girl to do? Just some Yuletide nonsense, Ruth and Harry only.

The team are forced to spend a weekend in Paris and with it all the implications that it carries for Harry and Ruth.

An alternative scenario to the start of Season 8. with a lot more soul searching. Ruth has returned from Cyprus, but not to MI5. Meanwhile Harry is close to a breakdown and has been forced to take a break. This though is Harry and Ruth, and it will be far from plain sailing.

After the Albany scandal, the team returns to Havensworth. After everything they've been through, Harry will need all the help he can get to mend his relationship with Ruth. Just this once, the stars are on his side.

Following on from "The Plan". this story opens two years later, when Ruth is approaching the end of her time in the US. (A knowledge of my recent one-shot, "The Plan", is not necessary, although it will help set the scene.) Now 20 chapters in length.

AU (sort of). They say there's a thin line between love and hate. Harry Pearce is about to learn just how thin that line can be when one of his officers inadvertently brings a newcomer onto the Grid in the form of Harry's estranged wife. Will working together on one last operation patch up the holes in their relationship, or is it already too late? Now complete.

It is 1986, and Harry and Connie are in Moscow on Operation Renaissance. Harry is developing suspicions about the operation as there are increasing indications that it has been blown. But who can he turn to for help to confirm those suspicions? A re-imagining of the old operation mentioned in episode 7.7.

It is New Years Eve, and for once, Ruth and Harry appear to be on the same page, but there is "always something". A two-shot piece for New Year.

Before Ruth leaves London behind in the wake of Cotterdam, she has one final request to make of Zaf. When Harry learns the truth, his entire perception of her is blown wide open. As he struggles to come to terms with it, he'll be forced to face down some of his own demons, alongside hers. Now complete.

Set in in 1814 after Napoleon's defeat and exile to Elba, Major General Sir Harry Pearce is a worn-out Army officer returning from years on campaign with his home life in tatters. The thought of the London Season fills him with dread until he is introduced to his god-daughter's chaperone, Miss Ruth Evershed.

In the aftermath of Ros's death, Harry and Ruth take comfort in each other, but when their relationship falls apart, they believe they've reached the end of the road. Even love has consequences, and neither of them are prepared for what happens next. Starts at the beginning of season 9. Mostly from Ruth's perspective, with quite a bit of Beth thrown in as well. Now complete.

What if Ruth had walked away from Harry after the Garvik affair. would it ever be possible for them to come together again or had there been to pain and distrust between them? First chapter rated T for language.

Set 2 years after Ruth has left London, she is living in a small town in Germany, and she receives an encrypted note. I am telling this story in longer chapters, and so it should be wrapped up in 5 chapters.

AU. After a scandal forces him into early retirement, former detective Harry Pearce settles down to lick his wounds in a sleepy village by the sea. Can his charming neighbor help him learn to smile again? H/R. Rating will eventually be upgraded to M.

Dipping my toe in the murky waters of MI5 again after an inordinately lengthy Brackley/Vincent-induced sulk. I just hope I can remember how to do this - and remember what has gone before, both in 'real life' Spooks and in my parallel universe. A hidden scene from late in S8. It is Christmas 2009 and Ruth is avoiding the celebration at The George, but eventually decides she should do the right thing. Now three chapters in length.

Season 4 team in current-day political climate. Harry picks up rumours about a high-ranking MI6 officer and decides to probe deeper. The investigation has unexpected consequences and the team must race against the clock to prevent a catastrophe. Meanwhile, Harry makes overtures towards Ruth, but will the impact of the operation scupper any chance of a relationship?

With the events after Albany feeling eerily familiar, Ruth need only make one decision to stop the pattern of the past from repeating. All characters belong to Kudos/BCC.

HR again! A multi chapter fic, which gets a little dark. Post S10. Harry and Ruth are married, happy and expecting their first child. Then he is kidnapped and tortured, leaving Ruth alone. Will he find his way home? Will he be whole if he ever does?..Now complete.

There's always anxiety over the first time something happens. (Harry/Ruth, M for adult themes & language, spoilers for seasons 1-10)

15 chapters, set during S.9, but after 9.1. When this story opens, Harry and Ruth are dating, having transcended the difficulties which arose after he proposed to her at Ros' funeral. An AU scenario, with some action, some romance, some swearing - so it's T-rated. Spooks characters belong to Kudos, while my own belong to me.

Harry without Ruth doesn't work. With Ros back on the Grid, Harry and Ruth apart and the most dangerous undercover op yet can the team survive? Can Harry and Ruth be reunited? Will he survive?

Ruth and George arrive in London after fleeing Cyprus (8-1). Harry walks into their safe house, and suddenly Ruth makes sense. An AU story, some of which will be from George's perspective. Nico doesn't exist in this universe. Complete

AU. After the end of s10 Harry and Ruth are in permanent deep cover and on the run. Eventually settling into new identities and a new life as far removed from the Grid as possible, can they ever really escape the shadows of their previous existence or will one particular ghost drag them back one last time? Kudos/BBC own theirs, the rest is my own.

Ruth attends her first office Christmas party at her new job. Set late season 2 and continues into season 3. Ruth drinks too much and flirts with all the wrong people. As Harry attempts to help Ruth recover from her mistake, the two find themselves drawn closer together as they try to weather the storm of those within the service who want to drive them apart. H/R.

A(nother) post S.10 AU fic ... in 6 chapters, beginning in 2016. The inspiration for this fic came from a review (by NatesDate) for an old fic, in which she commented on the improbability both of Ruth dying from being stabbed by a little bit of glass, and of Harry not being extradited to the US after Ruth's death'. The back story is what drives this.

Ruth has been missing for three years after Cotterdam. Harry receives a message from her, and starts to hunt her down. When he finds her, he finds someone very different to the person who left London. What have the last three years meant for her? Chapter 19 posted.

This is an 8 chapter sequel to "Miles Apart". Set from early in 5.04, and ending mid to late 5.05, this story weaves around the canon, occasionally veering off into its own universe. Told chiefly from Ruth's POV, what happens when Harry wants more?

This multi-chapter fic begins between Series' 4 and 5, and continues from there. In this story, Adam was not shot by Angela Wells, and so is fit and well. It begins with a non-canon story line, where Adam decides that Harry needs to go undercover, and he needs to pose as a married man. Why? Only Adam knows. Some brief appearances by other S.5 characters.

An AU five chapter story set in what would be series 2 after Harry's house is burgled, though that's just where it was in my head. To save his job, Harry is forced to get married; Ruth is his (un)willing wife.

Ruth has been in exile for three years of painful separation from Harry. When events happen and she has to return to the UK, can they find a way to make it work and clear her name? Set after series 5 AU. Now complete.

HR set post S10 and AU. Harry is trying to cope with life without Ruth, with limited success. Then he wakes up, and his life is turned upside down by something he didn't expect. Now Complete.

In the wake of Harry's proposal after Ros' funeral, he takes an unnecessary risk, leaving Ruth to reconsider her decision to turn him down. 4 chapters, with brief appearances by other S.9 characters.

Harry attempts to drown his sorrows, leaving himself in quite a state. Will Ruth be able to help him? Set on the night of Ros's funeral, altering the timeline of events in that episode a little, but hey, it's AU and my story! I hope you enjoy and please leave a review; it would make my day. Set after Harry had asked Ruth to marry him, he seeks her out to help him through a personal crisis. 6 chapters.

Set soon after the beginning of S9. Told largely from Harry's point of view as he struggles to come to terms with rejection and betrayal.

Harry travels to Cyprus to see Ruth. What he finds has his re-thinking his whole life. Will he walk away, or will he fight for her? 7 chapters. Some angst, and some of the other stuff.

An AU story. 36 year old Head of Section D, Harry Pearce has asked his analyst, Ruth Evershed to dinner but, due to a security incident, she's not been able to give him an answer. When she goes to his house to accept, a surprise is waiting for her.

Set in series 5 though it goes AU right away and hopefully makes things happier than they were in 5.5 and onwards. One moment in time can change the course of an entire life.

Ruth comes home late from a conference, and is surprised by what she finds. 5 chapters of AU nonsense of the HR variety. Set late in Series 8. Not to be taken too seriously.

HR again, set Series 5. Ruth wakes up unable to see. Harry insists on looking after her as she's suddenly blind. Will this bring them closer? (Bad summary, but I hope it reads better than that.) Chapter 11 is M rated, Now complete.

Ruth has been away from the UK for some time, having left in a huff and a hurry early in S.10. She is back in the UK for a reason. This is a one-shot which bloated into two chapters. Massively AU.

Harry helps Ruth move into her new flat. Two-shot. Sequel to Flat Hunting.

AU about Ruth and Harry meeting when they are younger. Set in the 1990s while Ruth is at university and moving on from there. Reviews are always welcome and very much appreciated.

Five months after Ruth has died, Towers sends Harry to the country for some R&R. A gentle story of renewal - in five chapters - also involving a small dog and a cat.

When Ruth had left for the second time to return to Cyprus with the boy, continuing had seemed almost impossible for Harry. He'd managed to survive the last five years through sheer strength of will. Now, however, his self-neglect has caught up with him and he's been forced to take leave. Will a chance encounter on holiday bring him the peace and hope he so desperately needs?

Catherine Pearce has worked hard to rebuild her life in London as a single mum. A face from her past threatens to change all that. Can Harry keep his oldest child safe? Will she need the protection of the team when things get worse and can Harry keep Ruth safe when an op threatens her personal safety? Is it coincidence or is someone out for revenge? All from 2.1 onwards.

Set at the beginning of series ten. Ruth thinks about the inquiry and what the result could mean, both for Harry's career and their relationship. AU one (two) shot. Enjoy.

A post-Cotterdam story in 8 chapters. Set from late in S.9 to early in S.10, Ruth has been away for over 4 years, when Malcolm contacts Harry. An AU story, with a different outcome (from canon) for Harry & Ruth. M-rated from Chapter 4 onwards.

Alternative season 10 storyline. When Russian Minister Ilya Gavrik and his wife come to London, quickly followed by the CIA, a drama that started in Berlin more than thirty years ago comes to a head. Will Harry succeed in keeping secret events that could destroy him and wreck the tentative steps he and Ruth have taken towards each other in the aftermath of Albany?

Post 5.3. Harry and Ruth are finding their way back to each other after her refusal of her second date, but will a revelation from Ruth's past damage them beyond repair? H/R

Alternative to the 10.4 park bench scene, where Ruth tells Harry about her job offer from the Home Secretary.

An alternative season 10, set in December 2011. Harry is saved from the tribunal to face a new threat to the service. To do so, however, he must face up to a few ghosts from his past. Rated T, with some Christmas team bonding and a healthy dose of H/R. NOW COMPLETE

This story opens in 6.9 after Davie King shoots Harry. Harry contemplates his actions in Gabriel Plaza. Does he have a death wish, and if so, why? Four chapters. AU.

Written before season 10 aired, when Gaddafi was still in control of Libya. The Foreign Secretary wants Harry to utilise his past connections to influence events in Libya but Harry is sceptical of success. Instead he puts his own operation in place with Ruth's help. Things don't go quite as planned, and he and Ruth are forced to enter enemy territory. Will they both get out alive?

What if Harry and Ruth had the confidence to go after the one thing they wanted all those years ago? Each other. What would have happened without the years of feelings kept under the surface. AU, HR, set series two and going on from there. Finally complete.

A two-shot set part way through S.8, featuring Harry & Ruth, and from Harry's POV. Harry has some questions to ask of Ruth, but will she provide answers? AU.

When Ruth faces a major challenge in her life, Harry offers her his support and their friendship begins to blossom into something more. H/R. Set after 5.4 but as if 5.5 didn't happen.

Post 10.6 AU, fluffyish. 'Harry felt his stomach clench, the familiar rush of adrenalin making him feel twitchy. The excitement had gone from this type of situation; these days anticipation was replaced by dread.'

"Oh Harry," Ruth's voice was colored with sadness, "I can't remember seeing you so down." "Sorry," he muttered, forcing himself to smile for her, although she could easily see it never reached his eyes.

HR, set 18 months after Cotterdam and Ruth is coming back to London with a surprise in store for Harry. Chapter 26 posted, now complete.

Set from the end of Episode 5.04, after the end of Havensworth. A light-hearted look at some possibilities for Ruth and Harry had they not hesitated.

Another take from the end of 10-6. Starting quite similar to others, but I hope to go off on my own tangent soon. HR Now complete!

Alternate Universe. It is 1944 and Britain is at war with Germany. Plans for the Allied landings in France have been laid, but when these plans threaten to fall into the hands of the enemy, who will Prime Minister Churchill turn to?

Set S10, HR stuff. Harry has been reinstated but all is not that simple. Now complete.

Based towards the end of S10. Harry has been extradited to the US following Jim Coaver's death but his life is soon in danger. Separated once more, will Ruth be able to find him? And if she does, can she ever repair the damage?

Set just after 8-1. Malcolm leaves the service and runs into a very familiar stranger abroad. Ruth has appeared once more, can she and Harry be reunited? Epilogue now up.

A HR fic set at the end of 4:10. Ruth has been brought back to a time she thought she'd left behind. Now complete.
